In the 16th century, composer Thomas Tallis set five verses of the Biblical book of Lamentations to music. Delve into the world of Elizabethan England and the time of extraordinary religious and cultural change in which Tallis was working, and take a behind-the-scenes look at our recording of this musical masterpiece in the Abbey⤵️

Today is Childermas, the feast of the Holy Innocents, on the fourth day of Christmas. It's a fitting day for the Coventry Carol and other medieval lullaby-laments, which give voice to the grief that lies near the heart of the Christmas season aclerkofoxford.blogspot.com/…

An article published on April 7 mistakenly claimed that the Clapham chemical attacker Abdul Ezedi had been supported by the Church of England, and that this enabled him to 'beat the system'. We accept that Mr Ezedi is not known to have had any connections with the Church of England and apologise for the error.

We were 18months in the planning for BSF in 2009. Gove arrived and cancelled - no replacement (austerity) and no plans.
9 secretaries of education later still no plan and a crisis - no surprises there

After my 1 year old nephew’s stroke my brother in law converted a van so they could continue to go to the beach and cater for my nephew’s additional needs. Last night it was stolen from Bristol - last tracked in Wrington. @bristol247 @BBCBristol @itvwestcountry @ASPolice

Since we are in Lent, here is my rhyming paraphrase of Psalm 51
____
PSALM 51
O Lord, if you love me, have mercy;
I’ve expressed my freewill perversely;
I’m stuck in my sin,
And rotten within,
Lord wash me, though I am unworthy.
