BREAKING: Anthropic is now expected to receive a "high junk" rating from major credit rating agencies after its IPO, which could come as soon as November, per FT.
Details include:
1. Blackstone has told investors that Anthropic likely will not receive an investment-grade rating immediately after its IPO
2. Blackstone is working with banks that stumped up financing on selling the debt on to other investors
3. An investment-grade rating is "central" to Anthropic's ability to continue its AI buildout
4. The company says it expects to spend over $800 billion on computing infrastructure between now and 2045
Debt markets are increasingly in the spotlight as AI funding becomes less abundant.

$IREN just secured $363M in financing backed by GPUs already generating revenue under multi-year customer contracts.
Pretty interesting considering all the concerns around AI lending because IREN can now borrow against existing infrastructure to fund its next buildout without having to issue more shares.

$VIG vs. US10Y
Interesting comparisons here. Cleary, fixed-income investments have applied pressure to dividend stocks through their increase in competitive edge.
Investors can now get risk-free higher yields, thus they are rotating out of equities and into bonds for the risk-free return. Who would blame them...
Now, if energy prices come down and inflation eases, the $VIG is likely to catch back up

It seems most people don't understand how severe the energy situation is right now in the Middle East.
As of Friday, Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline has officially been shut down after recent attacks, putting -4 million barrels of daily oil exports at risk.
Meanwhile, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is now at risk of being shut down, threatening up to -9 million barrels of daily oil supply.
All while the Strait of Hormuz is operating at ~20% of its pre-Iran War capacity, removing -15 million barrels of daily oil flows.
Combined, this represents nearly ~30 MILLION barrels per day of oil flows that are either offline or at risk.
Even after accounting for some overlap between these routes, the scale of the potential disruption is enormous relative to the ~100 million barrel per day global oil market.
This is one of the most severe energy supply situations in modern history.

You can't make this up.
The US Treasury just announced it is tripling long-term buybacks to $6 billion and yields STILL rallied on the news.
That means the US Treasury went from doubling, to "at least doubling," to tripling long-term bond buybacks and yields are still rising.
This puts the 10Y Note Yield above 4.85% for the first time since November 2023, up +15 basis points from pre-announcement levels.
The bond market is quite literally fighting the US Treasury as the Iran War continues, with the 10Y Note Yield nearing a +100 basis point move since the war began.
Without an end to the Iran War, we are on track to see the 10Y Note Yield above 5.00% by next week.
American consumers, homebuyers, and borrowers are in for a rude awakening.

12 days since US Treasury intervention in the bond market was announced and yields are up to a new 19-month high.
The 10Y Note Yield is now just 2 basis points away from its highest level since 2007.
The bond market appears to be completely ignoring the US Treasury.
We simply cannot afford the 10Y Yield at 5%+.

This oil deal with Venezuela is absolutely insane.
President Trump just announced that the US has reached a deal to secure "majority control" of over 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves.
Furthermore, the US currently has ~46 billion barrels of proven crude oil reserves.
Combined with the 65 billion barrels covered by this agreement, the US would have domestic reserves plus control over ~111 billion barrels of oil.
To put this into perspective, the entire world has roughly 1.57 TRILLION barrels of proven crude oil reserves.
In other words, the US is set to control ~7.1% of all proven oil reserves in the world under this new agreement with Venezuela.
At ~111 billion barrels, the US would be almost exactly in-line with the United Arab Emirates, which has 113 billion barrels of proven crude reserves, and it would exceed Kuwait's 102 billion barrels.
Assuming the agreement is structured as outlined in President Trump’s announcement, the implications for global energy markets will be enormous.
We will publish more in-depth analysis soon.

CEO Jensen Huang:
“AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue. And demand is accelerating. This time last year, one lab alone was driving the buildout; today, we have a golden age of new AI labs and startups, multiple frontier labs scaling in parallel, a thriving open-model ecosystem and physical AI coming online — with strong momentum across the U.S. and around the world. The AI infrastructure buildout is at full steam. Vera Rubin, now in full production, was built to power exactly this moment.”

LEGENDARY INVESTOR STANLEY DRUCKENMILLER JUST WROTE AN OP-ED FOR THE WSJ ABOUT BOND YIELDS.
He is not happy with what the Treasury is doing, thinks that it’s effectively a gimmick, and wants the Bond Market to freely determine where yields should go.
His op-ed summarized below:
- The Treasury’s decision to double long-dated bond buybacks from $2B to at least $4B per operation looks less like liquidity management and more like an effort to push down long-term yields after the 30-year yield reached a 19-year high.
- There was no clear market dysfunction forcing intervention. Auctions were functioning, volatility was contained, and trading remained orderly. With inflation still above target, unemployment near full employment, deficits around 6% of GDP, and debt above $40T, higher yields can be viewed as the market pricing fiscal risk appropriately.
- Suppressing those yields risks weakening one of the few remaining forms of fiscal discipline on Washington. Lower borrowing costs reduce the pressure to deal with deficits, entitlement spending, and the broader debt trajectory.
- Buying long-duration Treasuries while funding the purchases with short-term bills effectively removes duration risk from the market, making it resemble a small form of quantitative easing conducted by Treasury rather than the Fed. The concern is that once markets believe officials are defending a certain yield level, they may keep testing that commitment.
- The better solution is to let the bond market set the price of government borrowing and address the underlying fiscal problem directly: reduce the primary deficit, reform entitlements gradually, and manage debt more responsibly. Liquidity tools can delay a fiscal problem, but they can’t solve it.
These yields are becoming an issue.
When someone like Drucks has to write an op-ed, you know he’s getting annoyed. Either we cut back on spending and get fiscal policy in order (no party will do that) or we end the Iran war to get yields down. If we don’t do either, this problem isn’t going away.
