After tax and 10% pension deductions this is 4.1k *in London*. Just because people in other places are paid less doesn’t mean this is an exceptional monthly salary in 2026. This should be the salary most British workers are on. No wonder our economy is struggling.

Calling a former student “simple” on Twitter is terrible. It reduces a young person to an insult and implies he was always destined to fail. It betrays the trust young people place in their mentors and tells others watching that you’ll give up on them in a second, when the whole point of the role is to believe young people can change. Also, this a searchable, shareable comment that could be used against him in court. Some things you keep off social media. Besides his parents, we’re now all wondering whether you were doing your job properly.
