South Korea’s Kukdo Chemical has agreed to acquire LG Chem’s bisphenol A (BPA) business at its Daesan plant for 78.4 billion won, covering operations with an annual capacity of 165,000 tonnes. The acquisition could strengthen Kukdo’s feedstock security for epoxy resin production, while supporting LG Chem’s strategy to reduce its exposure to commodity petrochemicals and focus on higher-value-added products. Russian natural gas producer NOVATEK reported a 4.2% year-on-year increase in total hydrocarbon production to 168.2 million barrels of oil equivalent in Q3 2026. Natural gas production rose 4.9% to 21.12 billion cubic metres, while liquid hydrocarbon output increased 1.3% to 3.56 million tonnes. However, natural gas sales, including LNG, fell 3.1% to 15.8 billion cubic metres. In contrast, liquid hydrocarbon sales climbed 10.5% to 4.9 million tonnes, highlighting diverging trends across the company’s product portfolio. Higher output could support feedstock availability for gas-intensive industries, including methanol, ammonia and fertilizers.
