Actually the bigger issue is getting someone with decent creativity to free up space for Bedard Would I welcome an addition? Sure, just not sure I feel good about the price it’ll cost. Also, why not go do this in the summer since you’re so invested in winning now?

Kyle Davidson has been actively looking for "shoot-first, scoring wingers with size." If the Blackhawks slide continues, "count on something bigger perhaps in the works."

1. They’ve missed on some big draft picks (look at 2024 mostly) 2. Both coaching hires have done horrible jobs at trying to maximize Bedard’s potential 3. The GM hasn’t done enough to support and insulate said young players There’s still time to fix, but it has to change now.

Granted, you can have (minimal) big mess ups and still get around it. One bad coaching hire doesn’t, missed draft pick, or poorly developed player ruins the entire operation. Issue is it’s been a combination of everything going wrong compared to what’s needed.

Anton Frondell is 2-for-23 on faceoffs over his last five periods. He said a couple weeks ago that faceoffs have been one of the most surprising things about the NHL: "Shit, this is something people are really good at."
