Today, we honour the bravery of the 1976 Soweto youth who stood up for justice and equality 🙌 Their courage reminds us that young people are catalysts for change. As we celebrate #YouthDay, let’s commit to protecting and empowering the voice of the youth.
On Sunday 7th June 2026, Childline South Africa will join @The_DSD and various stakeholders for the closing ceremony of Child Protection Month. This is being held under the theme “Working together in ending violence against children”.
As Child Protection Month 2026 draws to a close, the Department of Social Development will lead the national closing ceremony in Ezibeleni, near Queenstown in the Chris Hani District, under the theme “Working Together in Ending Violence Against Children.”
The programme will place a strong focus on raising awareness about statutory rape, child abuse, neglect and exploitation, while encouraging communities in and around Ezibeleni to speak out, report abuse and protect children at all times. Child Protection is a 365-day responsibility.
