His name is Tigrino. He's the only known member of his species, and he lives at a wildlife sanctuary in Bolivia.
In the 24 hours after this story went viral, internet strangers donated over $100,000 to his sanctuary. Not a charity drive, just people who saw the story and wanted him to be okay.

K9 Chilli, a 4-year-old bomb detection dog with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina, died June 11 after being left inside a patrol vehicle on a day that reached 99 degrees. The department's internal investigation ruled it an accident, but the sheriff's office didn't disclose the death publicly until six weeks later and has yet to share how long Chilli was inside the vehicle.
A petition is calling on Pitt County officials to open a criminal investigation and release the full record of what happened.
