Today is World Mental Health Day.
Around one in five adults in the UK have a common mental health condition such as anxiety and depression. And this proportion is higher among young people aged 16-24.
With poor mental health affecting so many of us, even those who aren’t directly affected themselves are likely to know, love, work alongside or care for someone who does.
🔘 If you are concerned that you are developing a mental health problem you should seek the advice and support of your GP as a matter of priority.
🔘 Racing Welfare are available 24/7 and offer support for those working in or retired from the horseracing industry. You can either call 0800 6300 443 or download the Racing Welfare app: racingwelfare.co.uk
🔘 You can find a comprehensive list of support organisations on the Mental Health Foundation website: mentalhealth.org.uk/get-help
🔘 If you are thinking about ending your life, please call 999 (UK) or go to A&E and ask for the contact of the nearest crisis resolution team. These are teams of mental health care professionals who work with people in severe distress.
