Thinking of Mark Bingham, gone 25 years today.
His bravery, before and during Flight 93, changed the world. His efforts to build gay rugby helped it flourish in the wake of his death, giving so many men a space they needed.

But I also thought of him frequently over the last year, as @kylegoon embedded with the Ferals, part of the gay and inclusive @BmoreFlamingos rugby club, to tell the story of trans women healing and thriving through, of all sports, rugby.

I caught up with CJ Abrams on the 50/50 split between second base and shortstop, and what it means for him the rest of this season.
Paul Toboni also discussed what he's seen from the All-Star shortstop of late.

I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining the @BaltimoreBanner as the new Washington Nationals reporter! I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to cover the Nationals as the Banner expands its coverage to D.C.

This fascism. This isn’t even an argument at this point. They are attacking the media openly.

Hey everyone! I'm joining the @BaltimoreBanner as a sports enterprise & features reporter. I’ll also help out w/the Banner's Nats/O's coverage.
Growing up in Baltimore County, it's a privilege to write about the intersection of Baltimore community, culture and sports.
Tremendous news for our industry — and people I've admired for so long — that The Athletic was able to staff up in D.C.
Somebody asked if it changes our plans for @AllBannerSports.
It does not.
We got you covered DC sports fans! axios.com/2026/02/26/athleti…
We're looking to hire a Commanders reporter, a Nationals reporter and a columnist/general assignment reporter to get things started.
We want people who relish the idea of working in the same market as Svrluga, Kilgore, Jhabvala, Buckner, Wallace, Nusbaum/etc.
We're so excited to be adding an extraordinary talent like Andrew to our growing sports staff.
Listening to him talk about stories and how he wants to approach coverage left me thinking only one thing: He's the perfect fit for the community-building journalism we love.

So people know – @spencernusbaum_ and @andrewcgolden do an amazing job on the Nationals beat for the Washington Post. They deserve better.

I generally get along with Mike, so I’m really struggling with his assessment that Justin Tucker “made some mistakes” earlier in his career that are similar to mistakes other people make in their lives. It’s extremely dismissive of the 16 therapists who spoke to the Banner.
“He has the pedigree. He has the history. Yeah, I want him on my team.” @MikePrestonSun on the future of former #Ravens kicker #JustinTucker, whose 10-game suspension recently expired.

We were lucky enough to have Mitchell cover the NCAA Tournament for us twice. Each time, he wrote a story that was top 5 in a national competition.
He's a star.

In 1993, Ken Griffey Jr. hit a Home Run Derby ball off the warehouse at Camden Yards, becoming the first and only player to do so.
Why has no one done it since? I spoke with 3 physicists, @mike_petriello, @sigmejdal and #Orioles OF Heston Kjerstad to try to get an answer 🧵
