Funny how they’re perfectly happy to get elected banging on about anti-migration, but when the conversation turns to the reserved matter that actually determines whether Scotland can control those powers for itself - independence -suddenly they don’t want to talk about it.

🤝 Leaders of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales have signed memorandum on independence to work together.
All nations should have a choice over their future.

For the first time ever, there are First Ministers in Scotland, in Wales and in the North of Ireland who are all committed to independence from the United Kingdom.
Today, those leaders have signed a Memorandum of Understanding
to work together. It is not for Westminster to decide our future, and Andy Burnham does not have the authority to take these decisions off the table.
Each of our nations has the right to determine their own future, through democratic means and in accordance with the wishes of its people.

🚨Cabinet Office Update on Capita
I met today with Sally Jameson MP, the new minister responsible for civil service pensions, to discuss the ongoing problems with Capita.
It was a positive meeting. The minister confirmed that the government is looking seriously at bringing the service back in-house, something PCS has been calling for throughout this crisis.
There is still work to do before a final decision is made, but I made clear that PCS wants to be fully involved and kept updated as this develops. We also need urgent action for those still waiting for pensions or facing serious delays.
With TUC Congress next week, we’ll also take the case for insourcing to the wider trade union movement. Public services, including our pensions, should be delivered by properly resourced public servants, not outsourced for private profit.
Capita’s failures have caused far too much stress and uncertainty for our members. Today’s meeting was a positive step, but we’ll keep the pressure on until we have a pensions service that people can rely on.
I’ll keep members updated as we make progress.

It is utterly deplorable that a housing project in Glasgow was deliberately set on fire because of racist misinformation spread online.
Those responsible will be fully pursued and will face justice.

The UK Government's announcement of a trade ban on Israeli settlements is welcome and long overdue.
Scotland has proudly recognised the State of Palestine, and we are clear that Israel must be held to account for the genocide in Gaza and its damaging actions in the West Bank.
