Small businesses have been clear about the impact of crime and safety issues on their operations.
CFIB is glad to see the federal government's Bail and Sentencing Reform Act receive Royal Assent, providing tougher sentencing measures for repeat and violent offenders.
CFIB hopes this will translate into less crime experienced by small businesses at the street level. #cdnpoli
Thank you MP @GarnettGenuis for highlighting CFIB's recent report on the challenges SMEs face in hiring young people. There is a need for cost relief, and reducing taxes is the best way to do it.

Young Canadians are facing one of the toughest job markets in years 📉
Missing out on early work experience can slow skill development, delay future entrepreneurship, and impact important life milestones.
At the same time, small businesses, which employ 64% of Canada’s private-sector workforce, are navigating high costs and economic uncertainty, making it harder to create entry-level opportunities and train the next generation of talent.

«High taxes, ongoing red tape, & rising energy costs are already straining Canada’s food supply. Now, the Strait of Hormuz-related disruptions are compounding the squeeze.» Governments need to address what is in their sphere of control.

Energy costs are climbing—and small businesses are paying the price. For many SMEs, volatile energy costs make it harder to plan and manage expenses.

📊 Canada is in the middle of an entrepreneurial drought. For the past six quarters, more businesses have closed than opened.
Small businesses are being crushed by high taxes, rising payroll costs, endless red tape, and ballooning government spending, all while giant subsidies flow to multinational corporations. It’s time for the government to walk the talk and support the backbone of our economy.
That’s why we’re calling for clear action: reduce red tape, lower the cost of doing business, and remove barriers to growth!
