This is a good point to realize. Not sure if you saw my robotaxi review the other day from Austin. This was a perfect example of me NOT being able to disengage because I was a customer in the back, and my 2.1 mile drive took 34 minutes as it looped around my hotel in city traffic trying to figure out what to do. In a supervised FSD drive that would have been a good example of needing to disengage and parking after it initially failed. Those keeping very long streaks are driving like the robotaxi, just letting it do whatever it does, even if it makes no sense.

This is why none of these symptoms in isolation mean anything. A bad camera will take away FSD .. no doubt. That is where my mind went on this initially, but Tesla did the diagnosis of the camera and determined the HW3 computer was the issue, not me. @MatthewDR came into this with a rear camera symptom, but that ended up being the computer. Electrical issues are very difficult to diagnose without lots of data, which Tesla has. They will figure it out. After two days of personal data collection (which means nothing to the larger dataset), I feel like v14Lite is pushing the computer harder than it ever has, and is exposing smaller underlying fringe issues with the HW3 computer. It makes perfect sense that if the radiator system is underperforming this would expose heat issues spiking after v14 Lite on those cars. The problem with this is that radiator cleaning or alerting is not something Tesla recommends to their customers or even indicates problems with. My 80+ year old family members have no visibility into this service item. They change/rotate their tires, had their 12v battery replaced when the alert came up, occasional mobile service on small items that needed fixing (window switches, water in the tail light etc.) We are at the beginning of diagnosing what is going on, I don't expect the entire HW3 fleet to be vulnerable. This could even be as weird as my family members vehicle being a COVID supply chain 2022 vehicle. This could be a small susceptible batch due to a poorly manufactured set of HW3 boards. @Tesla will figure it out. I am hoping it doesn't drag on for those already affected.

I have some evidence. I have some elderly family members that are in the middle of this issue right now. They are brand new FSD users, as I recently convinced them to subscribe to FSD for one month so they could use FSD on a long 2600 mile road trip from Vero Beach to Cape Cod (and back) this summer. They drove north on FSD v12.6.4 and they fell in love with FSD on their first experience. While we were all up visiting in Massachusetts v14 Lite finally got installed on their 2022 Model Y AWD (65,000 miles, out of warranty) which they bought new in 2022. I explained to them all the improvements that were just uploaded to their car and that their drive home would be even better. A few days after the software was installed, my brother in law who lives out west and is a new first time Tesla owner in Reno, was driving this vehicle and mentioned to me that there were a bunch of alerts about Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Cameras not working. That seemed very odd to me. I went out and took a look at the alerts and noticed the Right Repeater Camera was not working. Decided to go into Service mode and poke around in the alerts and decided to try a DAS Reset. After doing the first DAS reset the right repeater came back! ... for about 15 seconds then went back to a could not initialize error and with the same AEB and camera alerts came back. I did three more DAS resets and each time the camera came back for a few seconds and then failed again. This made me feel like the camera was working or at least not completely failed or disconnected. My mind was not on a HW3 computer failure at this point. I also have to say, I did not see any overheating alerts on this vehicle. I didn't scroll all the way back in the history, though .. but overheating wasn't my primary symptom. It was camera availability. I encouraged them to file a service ticket on their app and grab the first available appointment anywhere for the right repeater and then try to get a Tesla Service center to accept a walk in appointment to help them on their road trip. On the first day of the 3-day 1300 mile drive home to Vero Beach, they went to the Tesla Service near Boston in Braintree, they were very nice to them and took them in immediately. Tesla Service diagnosed and passed along that their repeater camera was fine but that the FSD Computer had failed and needed replacing and it would be over $2000 for the out of warranty repair. They could not do that with a walk in even if they wanted to fix it immediately, so they would need to do this at home. This 80 year old couple drove home without any of the basic safety features they bought their Tesla for. No FSD, Basic Autosteer, lane avoidance protection, automatic emergency braking, auto wipers stopped working, and slowly over the three day drive the entire display stopped showing any surrounding cars, or road markings and is now completely blank, just the car on a blank driving environment screen while they drive. They are completely lost on what to do. They really can't afford the replacement of the computer. They are not tech savvy, and are confused why this would happen, and if they did anything wrong. Tesla is currently not saying anything, and they have a service appointment in a little more than a week in Merritt Island, FL. I am trying to reach out to anyone at Tesla that wants to look at their VIN and use their vehicle as a test case to further diagnose this issue. If there is anyone @Tesla or @teslasi who needs more information or their their VIN please DM me here on @X and lets work through this with them. I will have to be their liaison as they barely know how to use their app for communication with Tesla. If this indeed is an issue that needs to be addressed widely, it will be very important to handle this the right way with good up front transparent communication. @Tesla lets get this right.

Let me put it in this context. As your pilot on a commercial airplane, would you want me to have an incentive to show the number of consecutive landings I've ever had without a go around? While Pilots generally never want to have to go around, it's the safest thing to do if the aircraft is not in a safe position to land. You don't want any macro-economic incentives in place to deter a safe action.

More important than any career. In our country we struggle to support moms and dads to financially support and raise there children. We are put in between a rock and a hard place with work/child care/rent/mortgage. Most can't figure out how to make ends meet. We need a way for one of the parents to be able to stay home, and not need childcare.

my parents bought a tesla model 3 and there's nothing else like it. the most astonishing capability is self-driving. their tesla can drive them from their driveway to their destination, including parking in a busy parking lot, without disengaging once. comparing Tesla's self-driving to other automakers is like comparing an iPhone 17 to one of those grey brick phones from the 80s. it's kind of embarrassing. a week before they bought the tesla, my dad told me he didn't think he'd be driving much longer since he's pretty old. the tesla just extended his independence by years. feeling grateful for all tesla has done.

Sometime when I’m in your area again we should try to film v14! 😊
🚘 Exciting News! 🚘 I'm thrilled to share my latest @Tesla FSD video featuring none other than the legendary @chuckcook, Chuck Cook himself! While on a recent work trip to Florida, I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with Chuck and capture some incredible aerial FSD footage. Chuck's gorgeous Model Y is currently running version 12.5.1.3, while I'm still holding down the fort with 12.3.6 (yes, a bit jealous!). Nevertheless, the content we captured is nothing short of spectacular. Check out this unedited footage right here on 𝕏. For a higher quality experience, be sure to visit my YouTube channel. Totally agree on the short haul segment. Even L3 will kill shorthaul if FSD can penetrate the market. It is a game changer for short road trips most have not even considered. Driving is just not the same when you are not the primary driver. Its like the old days taking a train. I say this all the time, when I am driving to work, I feel like I am on the train now.

For equivalent coverage, and $1000/$1000 deductibles on both my Foundation Series Cybertruck and 2026 Model Y, my monthly USAA premium is $290. @Tesla Insurance just gave me a monthly quote of $409. Looks like @USAA will be keeping my business in Florida.

Slightly different versions of the Tesla AI5 chip will be made at TSMC and Samsung simply because they translate designs to physical form differently, but the goal is that our AI software works identically. We will have samples and maybe a small number of units in 2026, but high volume production is only possible in 2027. AI6 will use the same fabs, but achieve roughly 2X performance. Aiming for a fast follow to AI5, so hopefully mid 2028 for volume production of AI6. AI7 will need different fabs, as it is more adventurous.

Curious what your solution to get home was. This happened to us recently, and I rescued and plugged the tire and pumped it up. Some carry a pump to hopefully limp home, some use Tesla Service or AAA to rescue. I think its an important scenario to think through in your head for you or to have family members know what to do.
