I have maintained the same opinion, Tielemans is a better signing for Man United than Bruno Guimaraes would have been. You people will understand when the season begins fully. He solves the exact problem Man United’s midfield had last season. They don’t need another midfielder whose biggest value is carrying the ball forward or playing as an aggressive 8. They needed someone who can control the tempo, give them composure in possession, connect the first and second phases, receive under pressure and actually make the midfield function as a unit. Tielemans gives them that balance. He can sit deeper, dictate play, progress the ball and still arrive around the box when needed. More importantly, his intelligence allows the players around him to play better. Bruno Guimaraes is an excellent midfielder, but Tielemans fits what this United midfield specifically lacked much better. It’s about profile and what the team needs.
