A brilliant set of data 📊 here from Barry (as always!) Just shows sometimes data is best presented in tabular form rather than a chart😉 Very interesting to see Rory Beggan is 13/25 for 2 pointers outside the arc, whereas Michael Murphy is 2/2 Two very different approaches 😂

A quick thread below on an important issue for coaches of youth and kids' teams: - Do you allocate a position for a player? - Looking at player potential rather than performance - How to develop your young players appropriately Take a look & let us know any thoughts...
A recent discussion in our DSS members’ group got me thinking ⚽️ When should a position become a young player’s label? We’ll explore this further on Monday night. For now, a few thoughts on coaching players aged 8–18 & keeping an open mind. A Thread 🧵 1/10

No Senior County Football titles by the age of 31/32 (@DerekOR14 ??)...and then proceed to win 4 Counties with @HoreswoodGAA in @OfficialWexGAA over the next 7 years to end up with 4 to his name by age 38/39. Surely that has got to be some sort of a record? Anyone hear of something similar...?
Replying to @CiDeely @RockRoad16
I was only 33 then, I've had 20 years of practice since, so you should see my skills now.

Really looking forward to this first DSS Discussion Drop-In session with all our DSS Coaching membership of coaches Check out our Community of Coaches at DSScoaching.ie if you want to get involved
On Monday evening @brendand_8 and @CiDeely will lead a Drop-In Discussion session through Zoom for all the DSS coaches on Positions , potential & player development 📊💭 We’ll manage the discussion and throw in our tuppence with some thoughts around the area- Ciaran from the pro academy point of view and Brendan from his extensive work with academy systems for Cork GAA and Leitrim GAA (2 ends of the spectrum!) But the discussion is really a chance for our coaches to put their thoughts across & hear from others

I’m a big believer in discussing these issues openly with fellow coaches. Another coach can offer a fresh view, especially when a player’s needs are outside our experience. Developing players means being willing to develop ourselves too. It takes time & an open mind. 9/10

Looks a different sport to today's. Not saying it was better - and you can see why it became more defensive - but probably more enjoyable to play
