Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Greece’s Minister of @CivPro_GR Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, at his offices. From the moment I entered, I was moved to see the corridors lined with photographs of the brave men and women of the fire and rescue services. A beautiful expression of appreciation for the people who are the heart of the entire emergency response system. During my visit, I was introduced to the advanced technologies and control rooms that enable real-time coordination among all emergency services. We discussed expanding cooperation between Israel and Greece, particularly in advanced rescue technologies and emergency response. At the very beginning of our meeting, the Minister expressed his gratitude to me and the Embassy of Israel for the tribute we paid to Greek firefighters during the Sukkot celebrations, including the special memorial gathering we held in the Sukkah in their honor. We highlighted the excellent cooperation between the firefighting services of our two countries and recalled the Greek firefighters who rushed to board a plane to Israel to help battle the wildfires, even without their passports, determined not to lose a single precious moment. I was particularly touched by the Minister’s personal request to convey his condolences to the families of the victims of October 7. Thank you for a warm, professional, and deeply human meeting, and for the beautiful gift of olive branches, a symbol of peace and friendship between our peoples. 🇮🇱🇬🇷 instagram.com/reel/DejjbMhsG…
