“I don’t know if I would have gotten drafted if I didn’t go to Sac State or meet Reggie.” - Erick Dessens
Sacramento State had two players, Ethan Lay and Erick Dessens, who were drafted to the MLB. Both Lay and Dessens credit Sac State (@SacStBaseball) for making this possible.

SOURCES: @PacificBaseball is hiring Toby DeMello as its new head coach, I'm told. DeMello spent the last five seasons as an assistant for Arizona, working with the offense and catchers. DeMello has ties to the NorCal region of California.

After pitching to a 3.55 ERA over 76 innings as @SacStBaseball's Saturday starter last season, Ethan Lay (@ethanlay_14) will elevate to the Friday night role in 2026.
Lay features a four-pitch mix and elite command of the strike zone (5% walk rate).

A 6-foot-2, 210-pound RHP with a heater up to 95 mph and a swing-and-miss slider, Baylor Sandberg (@BaylorSandberg) could be a difference maker for @SacStBaseball.
"He struggled with command in his 10 appearances as a freshman, but a .188 BAA speaks to the quality of his stuff."

A draft risk last summer due to his big spring (.309/.357/.541, 13 HR, 52 RBIs) and strong performance in the @mlbdraftleague, Jakob Poturnak (@jakob_poturnak) is back for @SacStBaseball.
The third baseman will likely be one of the most feared hitters in @WACsports in 2026.
