Accountant friend has asked for some guidance as a client is facing a huge tax bill that they're trying to help with, is appearing very confused and unable to understand. No LPA, or deputy. I've advised the usual routes in terms of raising concerns with LA. Guidance anywhere?

The Coroner Mr Crispin Oliver who had humility and humanity in spades found neglect played a role in Myles death. The judgement is here. It's a catalogue of missed opportunities and diagnostic overshadowing. We were shut out by the medical team. georgejulian.co.uk/2025/07/1…

A guide to aid practitioners who make decisions to get a person to hospital, where they are determined as unable to (lack the relevant capacity) and are refusing, avoiding preventable deaths. We're working on other versions. Let's also hope we see the latest LeDeR report, soon

Interesting debate on the Mental Health Bill in the Lords. Many Peers talking about autism and learning disability, but few recognising the pitfalls that people will just be deprived of their liberty under 'DoLS' and will lose entitlement to aftercare.

Really important article from @TheSmallPlaces about the Mental Health Bill. Lucy advises that we need “an amendment to ensure that the human rights of mental health patients, and other adults and children using private health and social care services, are protected.” @wesstreeting @DHSCgovuk

Nicholas has autism and learning difficulties. He doesn't have a mental health diagnosis yet spent nearly 11 years in mental health units and other inappropriate settings. Now he finally has his own home in the community.

I don't usually watch Waterloo Road but this clip has stopped me in my tracks. Highlighting the desperate need for reasonable adjustments in schools and the impact. Fantastic actor here, whether that's from his actual experience or not, this is a fantastic performance.
When accessibility isn't prioritised, this can be the reality of being deaf at school 💔 #WaterlooRoad #Drama #DeafAwareness #DeafEducation #DeafCommunity #SignLanguage #Learning #HearingImpaired #BSL Details of support for some of the issues raised in this video are available at the BBC Action Line: bbc.co.uk/actionline/

🏨 Get Me To Hospital Guidance We have started to send e-mail invites to our roundtables in November, to begin the development of this guidance, so those who have already been in contact, should have received an invite. 1/3

We are keen to hear from GPs if you have any contacts within your networks, more advocates and more family members, who support disabled individuals who may at some point refuse admission to hospital for urgent physical medical treatment, or have refused. 2/3
