Only once before have @OfficialClarets been unbeaten after 12 league games. That was in 2000-2001 when the first league defeat didn’t come until the 15th league game. #ClaretsTrivia
Yesterday for the 43rd time @OfficialClarets scored 5 gls in an away competitive game. It is the first time that 5 away gls have been scored twice in a calendar yr since 2011.
Yesterday was the 25th time that 5 goals have been scored away from home in a lge game. #ClaretsTrivia
In response to all those who asked after today’s game whether @OfficialClarets had ever drawn 5 of their first 6 league games, the answer is no.
On 6 occasions 4 games have been drawn, but never 5. #ClaretsTrivia
For only the second time in their history @OfficialClarets have drawn the first 3 league games of the season. The other occasion? 1979-1980 when the first 4 league games were drawn. #ClaretsTrivia
Artificial intelligence? I asked Gemini if any club had ever reached the 4th round proper of the FA Cup after starting in the preliminary round, and this was the answer I got:
Good to see former @OfficialClarets player Lance Pedlar (23 apps 1989) back on form after some recent health problems. #ClaretsMemories
Former @OfficialClarets player Kevin James (48apps, 6gls. 2008-2009) has been appointed Manager of Walton and Hersham.
Former @OfficialClarets striker Mark Bellingham in action for the Club. Mark, who made 64 appearances for City scoring 22 goals, is the father of Jude and Jobe Bellingham. He played for City between 1995 and 1996. #ClaretsMemories
Thursday 25th April 1968 and Chelmsford City suffer their 2nd consecutive league defeat. These were the only defeats in a run of 17 league games that saw them claim the Southern League Premier Division championship.
Margate 3 Chelmsford City 0 Att-1,723
The 3 day week and other problems during the winter of 73 and 74 caused clubs to play in Sunday’s to try and increase revenue. @OfficialClarets played their first Sunday game for this fixture but lost 3-1. The crowd however was 3,181. #ClaretsMemories
Great to catch up with former @OfficialClarets goalkeeper Tim Bruce at yesterday’s game. Tim made 3 appearances in 2002-2003 providing emergency cover for regular ‘keeper Paul Nicholls.
Today’s @OfficialClarets 7-1 win was the best in the league since Tonbridge Angels were also beaten 7-1 on 21st Spril 2014.
It is the 28th time that at least 7 goals have been scored in a league game. #ClaretsTrivia
Brilliant win today! The 6th 5-0 away league win in our history and the 15th by at least a 5 goal margin!
Pat O’Flaherty played 2 games for @OfficialClarets first team and the games were 5 years apart!
A number 9 he played in a 1-1 home draw with Hastings United on 16 Mar 1981.
His 2nd game was on 26 Mar 1986 when City were beaten 2-1 at home by Southend United. #ClaretsMemories
Saddened to learn of the passing of former @OfficialClarets player Jimmy Elvin. He made just 1 first team appearance in a 2-2 home draw with Cambridge City in February 1965.
He played 72 times for the Reserves, scoring 1 goal, between 1963 and 1965.
My series on the @OfficialClarets v Romford local derbies in the 1960s and 1970s continues in tonight’s ‘The Claret’ match magazine.
Make sure to get your copy at the game.
The 1960s and 1970s saw fierce rivalry between @OfficialClarets and Romford F.C. often played in front of massive crowds. Buy tomorrow’s match day magazine, ‘The Claret’, to read the first part of my series on these games. #ClaretsMemories
For those who would like to attend @OfficialClarets super fan Ray Boreham’s funeral is at the Chelmsford Crematorium on Monday 5th January at 12:30pm.
