That heightened awareness is needed here. Love the message. You can actually practice it!
Bases loaded two out force at 2B. If Bauers runs through he most likely beats the force & the Brewers take the lead. There is some nuance to this play. The runner on 3B must bust it hard for home plate so as to score before the runner going to 2B is tagged out or called out for abandoning his intent to advance to 3B. As soon as he passes 2B he must lean in & start to 3B. With all that being said, it’s still a judgment call by the umpire.

Ben McCollum shares what it feels like to be around first-place people and a first-place culture. "I went to Northwest Missouri State, and my first practice with Steve Tapmeyer - best coach I've ever been around - I sat there and I'm like, 'This is what first place feels like. This is what a first-place culture feels like. This is what first-place people feel like.'" That was the wake-up call. He realized what first-place people have: "They've got an extreme work ethic. They've got an edge to 'em that other people don't - a competitive spirit." Then he quoted John Thompson: "You can tame a fool a lot quicker than you can resurrect a corpse...We want guys with a little edge to 'em." You can coach skills, but you can't coach competitive spirit. You don't want to consistently coach their effort and attitude. The last thing they look for: Energy givers. "Over the years, we found that guys that are moody don't make it in our program." "If you're moody, if you have low energy, if you suck the life out of the building - you don't make it." Talent isn't enough. Your energy matters. Your attitude matters. Successful people have a competitive edge, they bring energy, and they look to consistently get better. They raise the standard through what they do. (🎥 Watts Happening Podcast)

I'm speaking on behalf of all Rider Baseball players, coaches, and alumni. I'm not sure of the criteria for the Top 100 baseball program, but 3 Regionals in 6 years is start. A few other factors too. Just curious. @Mike_Rooney @aaronfitt @ShotgunSpr @d1baseball @RiderUBaseball

Coach....I have never heard of dropping the glove....that's genius. The 1st & 3rd safety is a great play. I'm seeing more and more. My question... hanging the leg on every pitch w/ anticipation? Expand for me. Thank you.
ROCKIES 1ST-3RD SAFETY SQUEEZE 1) Zach Veen with perfectly placed soft bunt to 1B side. 2) Excellent knee to ground adjustment to get down to the low pitch. 3) Keeps his eyes & bat connected. 4) Goodman breaks from 3B as soon as he sees the ball go down off the bat. 5) Goodman slides on the plate & not up to it. Cardinals do a good job of trying to defend it. Gorman is holding Goodman close to 3B & Burleson is closing hard. Two possible adjustments. 1) Slower delivery from Mautz to give Burleson more time to close the gap. 2) Burleson with a barehand flip versus a glove flip. Ball often arcs out of the glove & you can be more accurate with a barehand flip. As a matter of fact I think that is advantageous to drop your glove while charging when you are sure they are bunting so you can flip with either hand. Try it before you totally dismiss it.

My question Coach, do you have the runner at first following the trajectory of the pitched ball or reading and reacting to the catcher? Yes, the timing is off, but the ball hit behind the plate and the catcher never goes down to block. Great reaction and looks to have surprised the catcher.
DOING THE!LITTLE THINGS ACTUALLY THERE ARE NO LITTLE THINGS WITH WINNING TEAMS. EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT Rays Taylor Walls dirt ball read vs. Padres. Not perfect timing/momentum but it doesn’t have to be perfect because baseball is not a game of perfect.

Trent! How about put the ball in play, sac bunt, bunt for a hit, score the runner from 3rd w LT2 out, freeze on line drives, make great BR reads, run on pitchers that can't hold R’s… I'll stop here. But u get the point. & that's just a crumb of winning baseball. A crumb.
Well well well… I guess real baseball matters again… and it wins. Don’t strike out. Get the ball in play. Hustle, steal bases, throw strikes, compete. Yea, bombs are good… but so are doubles, singles, bunt for hits, moving runners … pressure on defense. Why has it taken this long to figure it out! That’s what pisses me off. Winning Baseball ….. well it wins! At every level.

Leadership Example Set Case Closed
In my humble opinion, base coaches should at least jog to their assigned coaching box. No walking! One of many reasons @stevesabins and @WVUBaseball are on my Mt. Rushmore of college baseball programs today.

Step 1. Provide that “safe environment.”
Consider this before your 1st team meeting this fall.

A great pre-game can win you a game. And I knew from our pre-game IN & OUT whether or not we were really locke in.
