With Jake Moffitt winning an NCAA tournament for the first time today, it might worth a look back at this tweet from the end of 2025.

--Shot a final rd -5 on a day when only 16 of 77 players finished under par. Second straight low rd of the day for Moffitt.
--Only 12 in the field of 188 finished under par.
--Moffitt had 1 eagle, 19 birdies and just 4 bogeys for the week.
--3 of the 4 rds were played on the Innisbrook Copperhead Course (7,209 yds, par 71). The PGA Valspar Championship was played here in March with the course at 7,352 yds/par 71 and Viktor Hovland won with a -11. It's comparing apples to oranges, but it's still something to think about.
--A great finish to an amazing 2025 which saw the USM freshman Monday qualify for a KFT in the spring, win the MS Amateur Championship with a record score (-21) and by a record margin (10 strokes). At the MS Amateur he closed with a -9 which was 1 shot off the course record set by PGA pro Steve Elkington. During the fall college season he had two top-5 finishes in 5 events and on this Florida tour he now has a 2nd and a win with one more event coming up January 2nd.
--According to the tournament website, as the champion Moffitt gets the following: The International Amateur Champion's Trophy, Merchandise, Lifetime Champions Exemption, world amateur rankings points and exemptions/invitations to most major amateur events worldwide.
--And finally, this event formerly known as the South Beach International Amateur, now will have Moffitt on the tournament champions list among the likes of Miles Russell, Benjamin James, Luke Clanton, Cole Hammer and Pierceson Coody. That's pretty good company.

JAKE MOFFITT (Ripley, MS) wins individual title, USM Men win team title at the Badger Invitational in Wisconsin!!! Moffitt shot a -5 today to finish -14 and he won by 3. This is his 1st collegiate win, and his 7th top-10 in 13 starts. USM was -11 today, -23 total and won by 6.

Ya know last year Carson Beck was a 6th year player when Miami beat Ole Miss in the semifinals. I didn’t see a single mention of this by Ole Miss fans. But let Trinidad embarrass LSU and they’ll tell you that’s the only reason 🤣

Funny thing is, that standard hurts Lane Kiffin more than Pete Golding.
Kiffin’s 10-3 team in Year 2, 2021, had 32/44 (73%) of its two-deep inherited from Matt Luke .
Even in Year 3, 16/44 (36%) were still Luke guys.
Golding is in Year 1 and already 21/44 (48%) of his two-deep are newcomers added after he took over.
So “these are all Lane’s guys” just isn’t remotely accurate, and it’s not a very good argument to make if you want to give Lane credit for what he did early at Ole Miss.
