A bag of popcorn, a quick story and words of encouragement was the norm before tip off when coach was in the gym. I could listen to those stories all day. He was also a big supporter of my kids. Prayers for the family during these tough times. Rest easy, coach 🙏🏾🕊️
Rest in peace to former Louisville men’s basketball assistant coach Larry Gay, who passed away at the age of 75.
A Winchester, Kentucky native and standout at George Rogers Clark High School, Gay went on to play college basketball at Florida State, where he was a three-year letterman from 1971-74. He was a member of the Seminoles’ historic 1971-72 team that advanced all the way to the NCAA championship game, where Florida State fell to UCLA and John Wooden.
Gay eventually returned to Kentucky and became part of another storied college basketball program, spending seven seasons on Denny Crum’s staff at Louisville from 1989-96. During his time on the Cardinals’ bench, Louisville made six NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 1993.
From Winchester to Florida State and eventually Louisville, Gay spent a significant portion of his life around the game of basketball and made an impact at every stop.
Our thoughts are with Coach Gay’s family, friends, former teammates, players and everyone whose life he touched.
Rest in peace, Coach Larry Gay. 🕊️

Never to be forgotten, the 2026 Kentucky state champion GRC girls basketball team was celebrated at halftime, and awarded with their state championship rings.
The program saw its first state title victory in its 52-year history.

It feels like yesterday I was holding your hand, helping you take your first steps, watching you grow, and wondering what kind of person you would become. Now I’m watching you take one of the biggest steps of your life starting a journey of your own. I’m incredibly proud of you

As expected, Frederick Douglass should absolutely be a top 5 team in the state going into the season🔥 @FDHSLadyBroncos
Next level talent and every single player was making things happened when they stepped on the court… they defeated Barren County 60-41 really dominating from start to finish

WBB recruiting:
6’3+- We’ll take them! Want film? Nah, all good.
5’11-6’2 can they hit an open 3 33% of the time/decently athletic? That works!
5’8 & under- are they Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?

Players pay attention: Angela Dugalic came off the bench at UCLA.. and is a top 10 draft pick in the W. Your impact as a player for your team is your most valuable asset. Doesn’t matter if you start or come off the bench….just be your best in the role you’re asked to play. YOU WILL GET NOTICED..
At some point we have to stop voting based on who we know, whose kid it is, who gives the flashiest highlights, who retweets your tweets, personal preferences or popularity and start voting on who actually earns it. It’s about production/efficiency that leads to a team’s success.
The kid had a great sophomore season!
