Coaching the average MS/HS athlete how to properly squat 10 years ago was a lot easier than it is today.
I will also throw skipping, hopping, push ups etc.. into the mix.
Its wild how many MS/HS kids have Coordination, mobility restrictions.
We live in an era with skill development being shoved into kids faces 24/7 all while BASIC Physical literacy baselines are not being met.
Then we ask ourselves why injury rates are going up.

The UIL approved a mandated 35-second shot clock for basketball starting in 2028-29 school year for 6A and 5A, with other classes to adopt it in following years. 6A and 5A schools would have the option to use it in the 2027-28 school year.

Track Coaches, you should be more concerned with the length of time your athletes are wearing crocs and slides than when you’re putting on spikes for the first time of the season.

Dude runs a 9.88 and clowns are saying “But look at the tailwind!”
A 9.88 with a tornado behind you is still BLAZING!
And still so much room for improvement! Sky is the limit…
Four @RCHSBOYSTFXC triple jumpers over 40’ today!

Kids aren't soft.
Every year HS coaches get thousands of kids to voluntarily run 60-80 miles per week in the heat of the summer.
When kids care, when the work has meaning and purpose, they will go to the well.
Pointless hard work on things that don't matter decreases motivation

Wearing missed family events & no life outside of coaching as a badge of honor is a toxic trait.
There are times of year that we’re busier than others, but there’s absolutely never enough work to do to “sleep @ the fieldhouse.”
Coaching = what we do, ≠ who we are.
A sad indictment on college athletics. How did we get here?
“I'd die if I kept doing this job.”

Parents: don’t be upset your kid isn’t playing when he misses practices during academic breaks.
Playing high school sports is also about commitment to your teammates and a sacrifice you’re willing to make. Most teams have scheduled days off. Make the most of those days.
Love when our DUDES come home!

Steve Sarkisian: "Well, hopefully [the refs] call [Georgia] for a holding one of these times too."
