Having just completed his second month of chemotherapy, 11-year-old Juan meets every day with the grit and grace that make him a Husky Hero in every sense of the word.
Juan usually undergoes treatment from his home in Monroe, Washington, with trips to Seattle for care at @seattlechildren as he fights high-risk ALL leukemia. This time, he made the trip just to keep up with his Dawgs.
Juan spent time at Husky Stadium surrounded by friends and family repping his custom design for Project Superstar, the community fundraiser supporting Seattle Children’s through Race Porter’s Heart on My Sleeve (HOMS).
Juan and his crew even got a game of soccer going with the same Dawgs who will face Minnesota tomorrow in their first Big Ten game of the season.
Husky Hero Juan will be watching from their corner when they do. We hope he knows they’ll always be in his corner, too.
Keep shining, Juan. We’re so proud you’re one of us. 🐾

For 8-year-old Asher, teddy bear Beary has been there for every step of leukemia treatment. Diagnosed in 2025 with seven months of frontline chemotherapy ahead of him at @seattlechildren, Asher is doing it all with incomparable energy and a smile, so this week was time for Beary to see what being a Dawg is all about.
Asher brought his family from Des Moines, Washington, to explore the UW trophy case and test out the Huskies’ recovery equipment. Beary took the day off just to hang with the linebackers in custom HOMS gear, Heart on My Sleeve (HOMS) a project Porter started while he was a punter for UW Football, and Asher broke in new receiver gloves with his favorite player, Luke Dunne – then showed the whole team his victory dance.
The joy and vivacity Asher showed us today are a testament to his strength, and a gift our Dawgs hope to carry with them tomorrow when they suit up against Utah State.
Today, we’re just proud that this kid — and his bear — are part of the family. Keep fighting, Asher. The Dawg Pack is right behind you. 🐾
