My absolute FAVORITE part of the Semester! Passing these out to some very deserving students (just a small sampling of the DOZENS of certs earned this Semester). It’s been a really great Semester and I am so proud of these young people’s hard work. Now for a well-deserved break.

And then some days you have twenty students get Microsoft Office Specialist certified in Word 365! Such a huge confidence booster for these kids and GREAT for the resume! Have a few more testing this week and they will all do awesome. I love this job! #microsoft

Got in. Got it done. Also, giraffes wear their bow ties at the base of the neck. Scientific fact. #teachertwitter #teacherfit

Favorite day of the semester right here! I get to hand out 56 @TestOutCorp Pro certificates to some awesome @BburgHSBruins students! My classes have worked so hard this semester. 34 Network Pros & 22 PC Pros including FIVE students with perfect scores! I love my job! #thisismcps

Emails like this make me a happy teacher! Been encouraging and mentoring this young person for weeks leading up to testing day today and they KILLED it! Now if I can just convince them to go Navy!

And then emails with videos like this. This girls could PLAY! 😁 “Hi Mr. Mathis, I am told that you are the one who jumped in to sing when our daughter Sasha was playing electric guitar at the Bruin Fest talent show! Thank you for making her performance extra memorable!!” – at Virginia, USA

So last Friday at BHS Bruin Fest, some students in a band together asked me if I would sing with them! They had seen some of my Shark Bait videos. You KNOW I said heck yeah! My guy there posted his VH Eruption solo to Reddit and this was one of the comments! So freaking cool.

I’m all about the creativity but I have standards! 😂 My kids had all kinds of questions. (This requirement stems directly from the trauma I encountered when Mackenzie helped decorate for a homecoming one year & it was Emerald City themed. SO MUCH green glitter in my house!

Our Beekeeping Club at @BburgHSBruins watched and discussed this video yesterday. Very educational regarding how bees forage for food! Take the time to watch the whole thing. I know I learned a lot! youtu.be/1MX2WN-7Xzc?si=lX2t…

Darn right this one made it into the yearbook! 😂 Greatness must be celebrated! Mission accomplished baby!

Got some more good work in today on the softball field. Mowing and most of the weed eating done, mats cleaned up and fences cleaned. Batting cage and bullpen area are ready to use and the dugout entrance is all cleaned up. Pretty productive afternoon! – at Blacksburg, VA
