It was a special day yesterday (7/26/26) when the St Louis Cardinals hosted the Cincinnati Reds.
For the first time that I’m aware of, two former RMAC players took the field in the same game.
Former Mesa Mavericks pitcher Kyle Leahy took the mound as the starting pitcher for the Cardinals. In his 6 innings of work, Leahy allowed just 2 earned runs on 6 hits, issued only 1 walk, and struck out 9.
In the bottom of the 10th, former MSU Denver Roadrunners pitcher Julian Garcia took the mound in a save situation for the Reds. Garcia allowed 1 unearned run on 2 hits, issued 0 walks, and struck out 1, as he earned the 1st save his career.
The former RMAC pitchers not only did their jobs, but they did them at an extremely high level.
If anyone is aware of a prior MLB game that two former RMAC players took the field, please let me know. Otherwise, I’ll remain convinced that this is a 1st.
