Murray High is looking for a week 2 scrimmage. We had Mayfield scheduled. However, coach Hatchell calls this morning to inform me they will not be playing. Appreciate anyone that would allow us to join their second scrimmage or anyone that would like to come to us and play.
Guys who coach high school QBs: are your drills designed to be replicated/useful in real game scenarios, or are you just out there makin up stuff to fill up time 👀??
August is almost here and a lot of 🗑️ technique is being “hyped” up on these highlight video.

Quarterbacks… it’s the worst time in the world to be a high school football quarterback. Why? There are 1 million voices to listen to…everybody is a guru... or think they are??Most of them are wrong. It’s almost impossible to get recruited. College coaches had rather have somebody’s third team not very good transfer or washed up has been then to have a high school winner who can make plays. So what’s the answer for you? The answer is simple :control what you can control… be the best version of yourself… turn off all the noise… show up to work to get better… find one voice that you can trust… follow a daily process that is guaranteed to make you better… never quit… notice what works and adjust to those things that don’t work… put together the most incredible video that’s ever been made… make sure the first play is incredibly dynamic.. and the second play is just as good… make sure that your best run is included in the first five place make sure that your best run is included in the first five plays…if the first five plays of your video, don’t grab the person who’s watching it then they’re probably not gonna get to play six. And finally if no one still wants you at the end of your high school career, there are still hundreds of colleges… junior colleges, division three schools NAIA schools... pick one of those and go and continue your journey... get better every day and those same guys that rejected you will come back to you two years later. And if they don’t, that’s OK, you will have become the best version of yourself. And that’s all that matters in the end. Be the best version of yourself and enjoy the journey!

Episode 3 of their podcast, Defining Moments is out now at UKSNAllaccess.com.
Last Wednesday, I hosted an Offensive Coordinator Zoom session on how to create, implement, and transfer a gameplan to gameday playcalling. 8 coaches attended with great success! What you mentioned here was also talked heavily among all of us! Great stuff coach!
Players give better effort when they understand why they’re doing something.
If athletes know:
• the purpose of the drill
• how it shows up on Friday night
• how it helps the team win
Their effort changes.
This idea shaped how we structure practices and teaching.
