It was great to get in the gym & learn from some top notch coaches this morning at a really good clinic! Thank you @OsceolaBoys for the opportunity! #SuccessLeavesClues
I have memories of listening to this song with my Dad. Funny how little things like this can bring back so many memories.

Are we helping kids… or teaching them to run from hard things?
I see this all the time in schools.
A student has a problem with a teacher, coach, classmate, or situation, and too often the first response is to remove the problem.
Switch the class.
Quit the team.
Avoid the conversation.
Have the parent step in and fix it.
I understand the instinct. We don’t want to see our kids struggle.
But Dr. Becky Kennedy said something powerful:
“The more you optimize for happiness in childhood, the more you actually wire for anxiety in adulthood.”
Kids need to learn that disappointment is survivable.
Conflict is survivable.
Failure is survivable.
Being uncomfortable is survivable.
Sometimes the best thing we can do for kids isn’t remove the hard thing.
It’s help them learn how to walk through it.

Joe Mazzulla on reports of the Celtics vibes being high at training camp
"Every team you lead is the most together team right now. Because we haven't traveled. No one's gotten benched. No one's been on a losing streak. No one's gotten blamed in the media. No one's had to go stand in the corner for 10 minutes and not get the ball. So, you learn those things as the season goes on, and you just learn how to work through those things together. And you can't simulate those. It just comes with time. And so, right now I would say all 30 teams feel great about themselves, and we got to wait till adversity hits. And adversity is even a strong word. There's nothing really adverse about playing in the NBA. But we got to wait until stuff doesn't go your way, and then you got to figure out who we are and how we're going to be at our best."

So thankful for all of the coaches I had growing up, and for all of the coaches that I have been lucky enough to work with over the last 28 years! So grateful to be a part of this profession! Proverbs 27:17 🙏

Unpopular opinion: Not everyone deserves a response.
Leave the message on read.
Ignore the comment.
Don’t answer the question.
Not everything deserves your time, energy, or attention.
Sometimes silence is the only explanation needed. 💯

There’s nothing wrong with hard.
What’s wrong is expecting to get better while avoiding everything that challenges you.
You have to choose the work before you earn the result.

The dishes are in the sink because people ate.
The shoes are by the door because people came home.
The toys are scattered everywhere because people were happy.
Some of the mess is proof of a good life.
Stay grateful.

How not to be average is a must watch speech by Curt Cignetti, Indiana University
If you are getting to watch your Kids today performing or playing Sports , you can’t have a bad day. There’s nothing that should take away your Joy of those hours, minutes or moments. It’s priceless.
Don’t waste it getting mad about something that’s nothing or mad at someone.

This game is OVER why would there ever be a a second left. The ball was not touched with a second left. What an awful call! Pathetic.
Absolute travesty that Western Michigan lost that game. What is the point of having video reviews if you can’t get it right when it is that obvious?

Ben McCollum said, "Your job is to not be here for yourself - but it’s to be here for everybody else."
Great teams are built of selflessness.
• You show up for each other.
• You sacrifice for each other.
• You win with each other.

Von Miller reveals after Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman suspended him, he packed everything he owned into his truck and started driving to Florida to transfer, when he called his he dad told him not to quit, so he turned around and led the nation with 17.5 sacks the next season
“I had everything I owned in this blanket, and I went to my car. I threw it in the back and I’m driving home. I called my daddy. I’m like, ‘Daddy, man, I’m leaving. Coach Sherman kicked me off the team. I ain’t coming back until I do this and that.’”
“I’m thinking my dad is going, ‘All right, we’re going to find something else.’ He said, ‘Pull that truck over, turn around, and go back to school. You’re not quitting.’”
“I was like, ‘That was not the answer I was looking for.’ He was like, ‘You’re not just about to quit when it gets hard. You’re going to turn that truck back around. You’re going to go back to school and you’re going to fix it.’”
“I had tears going down my face. I was like, ‘Man, this is going to be so hard to fix all of this.’ I turned around. We had a meeting. Coach Sherman told my dad the exact same thing that he told me, and my dad agreed with Coach Sherman.”
“There was nowhere I could go. I just had to face the music. I had to face the truth. That spring was a hard one, but I got my grades up. I made it to all my classes. I went through the checklist of everything Coach Sherman wanted me to do.”
“That following year, my junior year, was the best year that I had up until that day. I led the nation in sacks. I had 17 and a half sacks. My life had totally changed. That was all a testament to running straight through the storm. The shortest way through the storm is straight. I put my head down and I worked, and my life totally changed that offseason.”
