I find the idea of marrying the two by having the dungeons have specific puzzles and solutions and tools and then allowing the player to explore the world more freely and less restricted with those tools is a good blend.

I keep seeing people call this a cliffhanger. It isn't. It is an ending. Bryan's ending. His humanity is gone, his body is gone. Even if he did get cured, by this point, it probably would've just killed him. He fought, and he grew, and no one will know his story. I love it.

I think the Resident Evil movie isn't for everyone, and I think there are some valid criticisms for the film both in general and in relation to a Resident Evil adaptation, but it hits all the notes I want it to as a big fan of the games.
