Throughout the 70s, Shaw Brothers Studio delivered a slew of action-packed classics which culminated in 1978 with the legendary The 36th Chamber of Shaolin. The film would cement star Gordon Liu and director Lau Kar-Leung's reputation asmartial arts maestros, beget two equally exciting sequels and go down in history as the high watermark of kung fu cinema. Liu plays Chinese folk hero San Te, a student fomenting a rebellion against the tyrannical Manchu regime. When the uprising is crushed by the fearsome general Tien Ta (Lo Lieh), San Te seeks refuge in the Shaolin temple andbegs them to teach him how to fight. His persistence impresses the chief abbot and San Te begins his training, determined to avenge his comrades and liberate the people. Gordon Liu is back in Return to the 36th Chamber, this time as conman Chu Jen-Chieh, who makes up for his lack of kung fu skills by posing as San Te to stand up to the Manchu oppressors. But when his cover is blown, Chu decides to seek help from the real San Te at the Shaolin temple. Disciples of the 36th Chamber introduces another legendary folk hero Fong Sai-Yuk (Hsaio Hou), a rebellious teenager who must learn discipline from San Te at the temple, while the Manchus plot to put an end to the Shaolin order once and for all. With a legacy that stretches from the Ninja Turtles to the Wu Tang Clan, the 36th Chamber of Shaolin trilogy is one of the most enduring martial arts sagas of all time, lovingly presented in this stunning special edition packed with extras. 2-DISC SPECIAL EDITION BLU-RAY CONTENTS High Definition (1080p) Blu-ray™ presentation of all three films Uncompressed Mandarin, Cantonese and English mono audio on all three films Optional English subtitles for the Mandarin and Cantonese soundtracks and English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the English soundtracks Limited edition packaging featuring artwork by Tony Stella Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Ilan Sheady DISC ONE - THE 36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN 4K restoration by Celestial Pictures and L'Immagine Ritrovata Audio commentary by critic Travis Crawford Select-scene commentary by film critic and historian Tony Rayns Interview with star Gordon Liu, filmed in 2003 Interview with cinematographer Arthur Wong, filmed in 2006 Shaolin: Birthplace of a Hero and Elegant Trails, two archive featurettes with Gordon Liu produced by Celestial Pictures in 2003 Tiger Style: The Musical Impactof Martial Arts Cinema, an overview of Shaw Brothers' influence on hip hop and other music genres, featuring music historian Lovely Jon Cinema Hong Kong: Swordfighting, a documentary produced by Celestial Pictures in 2003 and featuring interviews with Gordon Liu, Lau Kar-Leung, Cheng Pei-Pei, John Woo, Sammo Hung, Kara Hui, David Chiang and others Alternate opening credits from the American version titled Master Killer Hong Kong and German theatrical trailers, plus US TV spot Image gallery DISC TWO - RETURN TO THE 36TH CHAMBER / DISCIPLES OF THE 36TH CHAMBER Interview with star Gordon Liu, filmed in 2003 Citizen Shaw, a French TV documentary from 1980 directed by Maurice Frydland, in which Sir Run Run Shaw gives an all-access tour of the Shaw Brothers backlot (including behind-the-scenes footage from Return to the 36th Chamber), remastered in High Definition Hero on the Scaffolding, an archival featurette produced by Celestial Pictures in 2003 Alternate opening credits sequences for both films Hong Kong theatrical trailers for both films Image galleries for both films Pre-order the Limited Edition Arrow Store-exclusive: 🇬🇧 bit.ly/4BI5lCb 🇺🇸 bit.ly/4kwq6KM Pre-order the Standard Edition: 🇬🇧: bit.ly/4sD4Vc9 🇺🇸: bit.ly/4kpfopu #BluRay #PhysicalMedia #BluRays #BoutiqueBluRay #CultMovies #DiscConnected #ArrowVideo #LoLieh #ShawBrothers #MartialArts

This special limited edition 3-disc 4K UHD/Blu-ray set comes with a spot gloss and metallic silver hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Adam Maida) and includes a 80-page perfect bound book. Two distinct versions of MANHUNTER are included: Original Theatrical Version — Featuring a new restoration by Vinegar Syndrome, created exclusively for this release, to faithfully reproduce the film’s original 1986 theatrical presentation, preserving its intended framing and color timing, without the digital shot repositioning and muted color grading found on some recent editions. Presented in Dolby Vision on 4K UHD and also included on Blu-ray. Legacy Director’s Cut — Michael Mann’s alternate cut of the film, originally released on DVD in the U.S., presented from an HD reconstruction supplied by MGM. Included on Blu-ray. A vicious serial killer nicknamed the “Tooth Fairy” due to his penchant for biting his victims has savagely killed two families. With his unit having hit a wall in identifying the assailant, FBI supervisor Jack Crawford attempts to convince his former top profiler, Will Graham, to assist with the case. Graham is reluctant, still shaken by his work apprehending the brilliant yet sociopathic cannibal Dr. Hannibal Lecktor, but eventually agrees. Fearing that another murder will soon take place, Graham realizes he must do the unthinkable: solicit help from Lecktor. As he ventures deeper into the world of serial murder and madness, his own perceptions of reality begin to falter. With paranoia and guilt setting in, he begins to question how close he can get to madness without going insane himself. From visionary filmmaker Michael Mann (The Keep, Heat), adapting author Thomas Harris’ landmark bestseller Red Dragon, MANHUNTER remains one of the most astonishing and visually striking thrillers of the 1980s. Featuring William Petersen (TV’s CSI) in what has been acclaimed as one of the greatest performances of his career, alongside three-time Oscar® nominee Joan Allen (The Crucible), Dennis Farina (Get Shorty), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Tom Noonan (The House of the Devil), and Brian Cox (TV’s Succession) in the first on-screen portrayal of Hannibal Lecktor, this visual feast of dread, photographed by two-time Oscar® nominee Dante Spinotti (L.A. Confidential), at last comes to 4K UHD in its original and totally unaltered 1986 theatrical release version.
