Been a Coinbase maxi, and here’s my 8-year journey showing why nothing else comes close:
Today most of my financial transactions are done within @coinbase ecosystem.
Since forever, Coinbase is the only platform where I feel safe to leave my crypto on the exchange.
Since 8 years ago, Coinbase was the only platform I buy/sell crypto from.
Since 6 years ago, Coinbase was the only on and off ramp I use to get onto @ethereum mainnet for defi and trading erc20 altcoin not listed on CEX.
Since 4 years ago, I store most of my $USDC on coinbase so I don’t have to worry about depositing into short term treasury.
Since 2 years ago, Coinbase incubated base, and most of my onchain activity since then was on base.
Since 1 year ago, Coinbase launched @Morpho vault. This is when I moved my $USDC from wallet to coinbase so that can use onchain lending and borrowing within coinbase app.
Since last year, Coinbase derivatives became my only perp platforms to trade and hedge against market volatility.
Since 6 months ago, all my daily living expenses are now on Coinbase Amex card earning 4% on $BTC reward while my free cash is getting the best yield available and now at 3.5% just for parking your cash there.
Since last month, I have been slowly moving my stocks from robinhood/fidelity to @coinbase where I have now 200k stock position on Coinbase and growing significantly on each red day like today. I have also participated on prediction market and find it sometimes even more reward than trading altcoins. Knowledge pays!
Really proud of what the team build and continue to thrive and iterate!
There is no 2nd best, last but not the least- Keep “chadding”, TYBG💙

wild week for the internet:
tuesday: google cloud outage
- revolut out globally
- several uk services offline
wednesday: ai finds critical bug in php
- ~70% of websites run php
- 96% of us federal sites with a known cms run on it
- dutch government, finnish services and universities offline
@dok2001 is right
we'll keep seeing days like this
better to be mentally and digitally prepped for them.
Credit to @OpenAI @wiz_io @ThePHPF for finding php2shell and running a responsible, coordinated disclosure.
This won't be the last one. Models will keep finding bugs like this in software everyone runs. Maintainers, researchers, providers and governments need a new shared playbook so the response scales with the findings and critical Internet infrastructure gets patched.
That's how we all help build a better Internet.
Oh fuck. That's not good. A lot of startups and vibe coders use Railway

During our inaugural showcase at Coinbase HQ, @0xSehaj and @raymdong presented our vision for trading and derivatives on @base.
We also sat down with some of our top traders to understand why and how they use Veranta. 👇
@cryptobonaparte discusses what he likes the most about the platform.
In NYC at Coinbase HQ, @verantaxyz presented what's next for trading on Base
"Bringing it to thousands of real-world assets, which is where the world is going"
"An all-weather exchange where humans and agents can coexist and trade together any asset anywhere"

cross-chain trades qualify! and soon perps too.
Hello @CoinbaseWallet team
Your new fee rebate system is genuinely great. People who actively trade will get a portion of their fees back, which is a really good initiative
I have one question
does the Status Volume only include trades made on Base, or are trades on other chains counted as well?
For example, if I bring a coin over from another chain using a cross-chain bridge or swap, my token is first sent out from one chain, and after a while it arrives in my wallet on the other chain as "Received". In Activity, it shows as "Received" rather than "Traded"
Will this kind of cross-chain trade be added to my Volume? Also, for multi-chain trading, it would be helpful if you could clarify which trades qualify for the rebate
Thank you

This is arguably the best place to track what’s happening in the midterm elections.
Information markets provide insight on what's likely to happen, from real people with skin in the game, not what someone wishes were true. It gets rid of the bias in traditional polls and media, so you can figure out what is actually true.
Tap the "Predict" tab in Coinbase to check it out.

Amazon made the right decision blocking agents, I’ve changed my mind
I use my agents to buy everything now, but I always take the item and manually purchase it on Amazon
2-day shipping is such a moat that I would use an Amazon agent to get it

This is actually insane.
I’m glad I wasn’t in a position to farm it early, I was a couple days late and was looking at it with extreme fomo and decided I was too late.
I think @0xDeployer and the @bankrbot team could and should build an actual protocol similar to what paper trade promised it would be.
A note on transferability.
Papertrade is a complicated primitive, and managing it from a risk standpoint is a complicated problem. The PAPER token is far more integrated into the economics of the primitive than most tokens are in their respective protocols today, and, broadly, was designed to act as a counter insolvency incentive coupled with a rebate mechanism to losing traders. Market makers and exchanges are by far the two most profitable businesses in crypto, and our goal was to try and externalise as much of their margins back to users as possible. We are now just over a week into the life of papertrade and we are becoming increasingly confident that this is both possible, but also a likely outcome as agentic led software becomes the norm.
As it stands, the paper token traded as a perp becomes a leveraged bet on bankroll solvency - and being able to short bankroll solvency materially changes the payoff curve of a manipulation attack. The target number goes from the bankroll, to the bankroll + short side exposure on paper. We can, and do limit bankroll size specifically to control this payoff curve and ensure it never becomes existentially problematic, but external perp markets are not something we would have any control over if left to float of their own accord. For example, if our bankroll is $10m, an attack costing $15m manipulating the price of bitcoin or ether is not viable. You simply lose money. If however you were also able to put on $10m of PAPER short side exposure, suddenly an attack costing $15m is very viable indeed.
If we were to make the token transferable at this point, we are confident we would quickly enter a state too dangerous to allow any material exposure to be taken on papertrade, an end result that benefits no party beyond the wolves who have done the math on the short and are waiting in the wings with sharpened knives.
We would also like to thank the various perps teams who have reached out about pre-market listings for their understanding and patience regarding this issue, and especially to the paragon team who, despite jumping the gun on us, have behaved with the utmost integrity and transparency once a dialogue was opened.
Perps on PAPER will always act as a self-limiting exposure ceiling for a token with this type of utility, and we think it would be a shame to limit the growth of papertrade to the extent that allowing perps would necessitate. As such, at this juncture we do not have plans to allow off-contract token transferability.
Structurally, papertrade is limited by the quality of the data it receives from hyperliquid, but we strongly believe that hyperliquid has a very large part to play in the future of global exchanges, and expect their books to continue to thicken and strengthen over time.
A note on fees.
Papertrade launched with a deadband fee from entry of 0.2bps. This means you don't earn anything until the price has moved by 0.002% in your favour. Over the months before launch, we played around with many different curves and fee structures affecting exclusively positions closed very close to entry price in order to try and devise a structure that removed the edge against the bankroll low time frame scalp bots have, whilst also minimally impacting the traders around which and for whom the product was devised. We were never able to find anything we were absolutely happy with and so decided to stay with the 0.2bp deadband fee through launch. This has however meant we have had to be very restrictive when it came to certain parameters, such as OI caps.
Now, however, we have enough live data to fully understand exactly which strategies work, and to make the necessary changes to stop them. The changes we are making will have an on hours and off hours fee mode to account for the relative differences in liquidity the hyperliquid books see between these two time periods, and the ease with which low time frame moves are signalled. The changes we are making will only affect positions closed within 6bps of entry (0.06%) in on hours, and 10bps (0.1%) in off hours. Any trades closed above these threshold price shifts will see no change to their fees at all. On a look back to launch basis, these changes affect the profitability of bot strategies roughly 15x more than they do normal traders, for whom a very small proportion of overall winnings come from within this band.
These changes should serve to flatten much of the edge our microfee structure necessarily creates on low time frames, and will help with long term exchange sustainability. This should hopefully allow us to open up parameters such as OI caps a little more so those of you who wish to can put on the size you want to, when you want to.
It is possible these changes are still too lax, and that further revisions to this structure may be necessary going forwards. If so, we will notify users ahead of time.
A note on paper tokenomics.
In conjunction with the fee changes, we will also be implementing a change to the token issuance curve.
Going forward, every $1 lost mints a fixed share of PAPER's supply at that moment, roughly 0.1% of supply per $1M lost (the exact number depends on the mint rate at the time the contracts are upgraded). PAPER minting in and near insolvency will also change, switching from a flat 100 per $1 of loss, to a time weighted multiplier on the curve growing over time, effectively acting as the house running a discounted auction on its own future cash flows. This change also removes the risk of the paper-mint-straddle-attack, temporarily pushing the protocol insolvent by closing only the winning side of a large straddle position and then attempting to mint as much paper as possible.
In the immediate term these changes will only have a very subtle effect on PAPER minting, but in the long run will structurally change the outlook of the system beyond the first few weeks, serving to slowly dilute out older holders and leaving more recent users with an advantage. Reconstituting the PAPER system into something much closer to the exchange rakeback it was intended to be.
We have been very reticent to touch this particular aspect of the system for obvious reasons, but ultimately we believe that these changes provide all users with the optionality to take a smaller piece of a potentially much larger pie than the current dynamic might necessarily allow.
Other, miscellaneous notes.
These contract upgrades will include a few other contract changes, including the addition of builder codes so that builders can utilise papertrade in whatever capacity they choose to. This will be a whitelist only to begin with and we will have more for you later in the week on where/how this will be rolled out. A small change to contract permissions on the reward distributor and a change on how below bust closes are processed by the exchange are also included, largely to block gas griefing attacks.
These changes will be pushed to docs in full over the coming day, and we will further announce once the changes are queued into the timelock pending final security passes, scheduled to go live 24 hours after that point.
Final note.
We'd like to thank everyone that has tried out papertrade over the last 10 days. It has been a labour of love building this product and both of us have been taken aback at all of the positive feedback we have received. We'd also like to thank all those of you who have spent considerable time musing on the system we have built, and much of your advice has been taken onboard and will likely affect the colour of what papertrade becomes going forward. We know some of these changes will be unpopular with some, but we would not be making them if we did not feel them to be absolutely necessary.

Every time I see someone integrate social into their app — eg @RobinhoodCrypto, now @opensea — I get even more frustrated at how @base blew their first mover advantage. Social was correct. The focus on creator & content coins was wrong.
Oh what could have been @jessepollak — when you wrote this it really frustrated me. And I literally said on @gmfarcaster that we’d see Robinhood and others adding social soon. And they did just a couple months later. Your thinking was right; your execution was wrong. Oh well.

🚨PSA: I almost got wrecked🚨
Sharing the story to hopefully help nobody else get wrecked. DOUBLE CHECK YOUR @ensdomains NOW.
I’ve used 7605.eth (my punk #) as the ENS for my main collection for a few years now. Usually I’m good about remembering to renew it but there’s been a lot going on and I forgot a couple months back. Yesterday I was extending a loan on @gondixyz and needed an additional 400 USDC to cover the origination. I went to my Coinbase and did what I’ve done many times before and sent 400 USDC to 7605.eth. After a few minutes of it not arriving I started to look into it and it took me a minute to figure out what happened. I put 7605.eth into etherscan and everything seemed normal at first, address looked like what I expected, but then I noticed a transfer out to a fatleopard.eth. I freaked out thinking my wallet was compromised, then noticed an ENS transaction. Went to ens.domains and found that 54 days ago a wallet address with the same 5 beginning characters as mine (0x862) had registered the domain after it expired.
I’m so used to checking those first 4-5 digits and assuming all is well so this has been a huge lesson learned. I’m extremely lucky to have only lost $400, it could have been a massive loss. I’m also very used to sending NFTs I buy from my hot wallet to this wallet using the 7605.eth ENS so I’m very lucky to have not purchased and moved anything in the last few weeks and to catch it before I did.
If you use an ens domain for any important wallets make sure to remember the registration deadlines and stay on top of them. And get into the habit of checking more than those first 5 digits.
Stay safe out there friends ❤️

The U.S. should be the best place to build, raise capital, and participate in crypto from day one. Thank you, @SECPaulSAtkins, for advancing rules that could bring more of this activity here while ensuring people have the disclosures, protections, and clarity they deserve.
Americans should be able to participate in new crypto networks from the start, with the information and protections they need to make informed decisions.
That’s the goal of @SECGov’s proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, and the comment letter that @coinbase just filed.
We’re grateful to @SECPaulSAtkins and the Commission for their vision and their leadership. A few thoughts.🧵
