I will never encourage a kid to reclass up even if he's going back to his correct grade UNLESS the @NBA tells him to.

Two torn ACLs. An older prospect. A mid major background. Undrafted.
Isaiah Crawford had nearly every red flag NBA scouts look for.
Yet he’s on an opening night NBA roster while several former first round picks are out of the league.
His story is worth telling

I’m sure Rick Barnes will figure it out, though I will say I was a bit shocked that he took so many guys in the portal that have such strong “offensive” identities lol

As a strength coach I tell my athletes “I can make you stronger, but I cannot make you longer.”
NBA scouts ask me about this measurement 1st. Not the vertical jump, not the bench press, not the squat, but the wingspan. Specifically in relation to the players height. This player is 6’6 with nearly a 7’1 wingspan!
Genetics win!
Watched his first game on 16s in Indianapolis. If I remember correctly he had a super easy 25+ on something like 12 shots lol

The @CBG Live JUCO Prep Jamboree was loaded with talent, and these players made the biggest impact. Their performances turned heads, elevated their stock, and left a lasting impression on scouts and coaches in attendance.

Jacob Jenkins is one of the top young wing prospects in Virginia. The 6'4 sophomore recently transferred to Central Virginia powerhouse The Miller School of Albemarle, where he continues to showcase his high upside and advanced skill set. After playing up on the MADE Hoops circuit this summer with Team Loaded Black, Jenkins played a key role as a perimeter scorer and athlete who consistently made plays on both ends of the floor. Jenkins is a true two-way talent with significant room to grow physically, both in height and athleticism. He already plays above the rim in transition and the half court, showcasing his explosive leaping ability. Offensively, he plays with tremendous confidence and never hesitates to take shots from all three levels. His jumper is effortless, featuring great elevation, lower-body lift, and extension. He has proven capable of knocking down shots both off the catch and off the dribble. Jenkins pairs a tight handle with advanced footwork, using his timing, agility, and head fakes to create separation against defenders. When attacking the basket, he uses his length and springiness to stretch around defenders and finish through tight windows. Defensively, he has all the early indicators of a high-level perimeter defender, along with the potential to develop into an effective weakside rim protector. While he is not yet the most physical defender, he makes up for it with intelligent angles, sound timing, and the ability to anticipate his opponents' movements. As Jenkins begins his first season at The Miller School, expect him to continue developing into a more complete prospect at all levels. With his combination of size, shooting ability, athleticism, and two-way potential, Jenkins has all the tools to emerge as one of Virginia's premier young talents @Jacob_prod3 @MSAHoops @Colby_Drake @CoachMeriwether @CoachSBall @jwherron10 @ARosenfeldHoops @NorfolkKnights

This quote seems to be melting the internet so I think the key is talking through what this actually means.
When constructing an offense as a coach, you should not be trying to CREATE midrange shots. Obviously though, sometimes the defense wins. And the best bailout can oftentimes be a midrange jumper. So if you’re a player (particularly shot creators who spend a lot of time on the ball), yes it’s valuable to have a midrange jumper. And yes, if you’re training players who are on-ball players, you should be helping them with that shot. It IS really important for those moments where offenses need bailed out. But midrange jumpers shouldn’t be the goal of what a coach is trying to create offensively.
