🚨 Today’s report is the first in our five-part series—‘Who is affected by violence?’ Our findings reveal a stark reality: 🔷 67% of young people aged 13–17 worry about becoming victims of violence. 🔷 1 in 5 children are victims, equating to 440,000 young people across England and Wales. Over half of these incidents result in physical injury. 🔷 1 in 20 carry a weapon, with nearly half saying it’s for personal protection. 🔷 Violence is concentrated among the most vulnerable children: those excluded from school, persistently absent, supported by social workers, or at risk of exploitation. 🔷 Just 12% of children repeatedly involved in violence receive the help they need to prevent further harm.
