Everyone asks me about live selling on TikTok Shop and if there brand should be doing lives...the short answer is yes but most brands are doing lives the wrong way!
Most brands are working with an agency or building an in house polished setup where everything is super brand focused and aligned
The only problem with that is it's extremely expensive, Hard to scale because of costs of talent, materials, etc..and most importantly it almost never brings an ROI!
As we know it Tiktok Shop is a volume game of getting as many affiliates and videos on the affiliate side so wouldn't the same principal apply to Lives as well since it's still an algorithm?
I've seen a problem happen over and over again with brands getting frustrated with live performance as it rarely ever brings an ROI they just do it because it's what Tiktok and their agency is telling them to do
That's why at TBAR Partners powered by Common Thread Collective we have created a live offering that nobody else in the space has done to focus purely on performance not some polished set that is expensive to produce!
Our entire focus is volume of live hours and having real affiliate with real live experience all over the country go live on the brands page with their own setup. It's real, authentic and brings an ROI as we can produce lives at a much cheaper rate than anyone else in the space.
I'm very bullish that we will see lives head this direction and we are the 1st agency to have the systems in place to offer this at scale
so if you're a brand upset about your live agencies performance or if you've been on the fence about lives because it's too expensive, send me a DM let's chat!

Last BFCM, @AppLovin became the 3rd highest spending media channel in the stack. @tonychoPPC, who runs over $1B in spend at @CommnThreadCo, explains why he calls it idiot proof:
"AppLovin's media spend on Black Friday and Cyber Monday last year bucked the curve. It just went up all throughout the weekend."
"They built it kind of like idiot proof."
Me: "Which some of us need. Like me."
@tonychoPPC: "The default out of the box for AppLovin is 0-day click attribution. Compare this to the Google Ads platform's attribution out of the box: 30-day click, 3-day engaged view, 1-day view."
"They basically gave media people no options to screw anything up."

Replying to @CommerceRound
@CommerceRound in San Diego this week was the 1st time @alexrudolphh and I spoke at an event
It was a ton of fun and we got to meet so many cool brands in the process
Excited for more opportunities like this to teach brands about what’s working on TikTok shop and how to scale your affiliate program with best in class affiliate management
Also we got to announce that TBAR Partners got acquired by @CommnThreadCo which was super fun and awesome to see all the support from everyone

The support we’ve been getting since our announcement that TBAR Partners got acquired by @CommnThreadCo has been so incredible
Alex and I hated the admin work of running an agency the invoicing, contracts, payroll, etc…
It got to a point where it was too much and Alex and I wanted to focus on what we do best which is provide a great service scaling brands on TikTok Shop.
Joining forces allowed us to not only do that but also have access to proprietary software, resourcing for finding top talent, and the best part is getting to learn from some of the best leaders like @TaylorHoliday
If you’re deep in tiktok shop and looking to join one of the fastest growing TikTok agencies working with some of the biggest brands on the platform, let’s chat I guarantee we will pay more than your current position!
Also if you’re a brand looking to scale on TikTok shop let’s chat

Today is the most exciting day of my life
I get to finally announce to everyone that TBAR Partners has been acquired by @CommnThreadCo
@alexrudolphh and I started TBAR partners thinking it would just be a side hustle to make some extra money while in college playing baseball but oh has it been so much more than that.
Very quickly we realized we had something when I made a LinkedIn post the day of starting the agency about how we would scale David protein on TikTok shop and it instantly blew up and booked our calendars out for weeks.
We landed our 1st clients and got great case studies with those brands and from there we never looked back.
We could have never imagined this happening when we started 15 months ago but we have grown and learned so much in this time.
I’m so grateful for what has been entrusted to us from our 25 person team to our 40+ clients we get to serve daily, and I’m just in awe of what TBAR has become as it’s much bigger than just Alex and I.
That is why this partnership with @common thread collective was so clear for us because it not only allowed our entire team to be apart of something so much than what Alex and I could do alone but it also allows Alex and I to focus on TikTok shop which is what we love doing and are best at!
We have made a name for ourselves as one of the Top TikTok shop agencies in the space and it’s only going to be more clear to everyone TBAR is the best at TikTok shop as we now have
- Better resourcing to hire the best talent and operationalize
- TikTok shop live management services
- Proprietary software for halo effect and TikTok content to Meta ad campaigns in a single click
I’m fired up for this next chapter of TBAR Partners and excited to build with CTC who’s known to be one of the biggest most respected agencies in the entire space and get to learn from some of the best leaders like @TaylorHoliday , @itslukeaustin and the rest of their team.
I can’t express enough my gratitude for this opportunity and still in awe of what this has become because TBAR was not built by my own hands but by Gods hand over everything since the beginning
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

I’m too old for Tik Tok.
But old enough to recognize when our industry is experience a permanent change in how brands are built.
That’s why I am excited to announce CTCs first acquisition since our partnership with Acacia.
TBAR partners is now an official part of the collective.
The agency that built the Tik Tok shops playbook for brands like:
Gruns, Ridge, HexClad, David Protein, Vitacoco, Create and more.
@TylerBrechbiel and @alexrudolphh are everything you could want in a team leading this channel.
All the way down to the broccoli hair.
Together we are going to be able to reimagine how brands approach building their digital enterprise around one cohesive plan and measurement system to drive predictable profitable growth everywhere they sell.
And while the 21 year old version of me they created for the announcement graphic doesn’t exist, our powers compliment each other in ways that will benefit brands tremendously.
The new world is built around a single strategy tying together your entire Digital Enterprise. No silos. No competing internal teams. One unified plan for profit.

This type of access and projection / realized revenue per email push is partially why im stoked to be back at CTC
Just sooo much access to campaigns, niches, brands tests that it's impossible not to find stuff that works universally.

The prodigal son has returned!
Welcome back to CTC @iamshackelford.
8 years ago, this former goalie turned media buyer walked into our offices and showed off how to build PPE Wrappers on a Facebook campaign. IYKYK.
He was the moderator of OG FB Media Buyers group on facebook and the first truly experienced strategist we hired at CTC. (sorry @andrewjfaris and but we were making it up as we went)
The next 3 years we accomplished a lot together.
But Nick was always restless, always side gigging something, always chasing the stage.
He needed to spread his wings.
At the time CTC was oriented around goals that didn't allow for the kind of opportunity that would keep ambitious satiated within the company.
So Nick needed to leave.
He traveled the world, added hundreds of tattoos, built an amazing brand on edge of legality, got married, had a kid and learned a ton of new skills.
Then our paths started to cross again.
First it was golf...
Then it was events...
Then hyrox...
We started dreaming together and saw a way in which our worlds could connect again.
At Brez, Nick got very back in the weeds on retention and subscription.
He had to... Selling $85 cans of liquid on the internet demands the ability to drive LTV to support challenging acquisition costs.
I believe that all brands (and the people in them) evolve the traits and skills needed to make the genetic attributes of their business work.
Brez had to be world class at subscription and retention.
Nick had to BECOME world class at these things.
CTC has always been reputational associated with acquisition and profitability. BUT we have a very large retention business as well.
With Nick here now I think we will do a better job of sharing that story AND evolving the product to better serve some of the growing parts of the market (like subscription brands).
If you survive long enough, and maintain mutual respect with the people around you it is often the case that you will find reasons to have multiple chapters together.
I can't wait to write another chapter with Nick at CTC.
If you have followed Nick for a while and are brand interested in learning more about how his experience is going to show up in our retention offer, REACH OUT!

Here's a change no one saw coming...
I've always had a working thesis since I started in this game 11 years ago: to be useful and respected in a space that I care deeply about.
It started off in The Facebook Ad Buyers Group with Tim Burd, then I joined forces with Taylor Holiday at CTC. I spent just under 3 years there to kick off my career and learn as much as I possibly could before I went out on my own. Over that time, 8 years passed and I started a handful of businesses that have impacted a lot of lives and continues to impact many lives.
Agencies, events, brands all while I was able to stack skills and value along the way.
I was able to find incredible teams to build with, start awesome projects, finish awesome projects, and meet many new business owners that I still get to talk to and consider friends today.
Four the last four years, as I transitioned away from the day-to-day of Structured, I had the opportunity to start building one of the most incredible direct-to-consumer brands at BREZ.
What started as an advisory and a check turned into full-blown direct-to-consumer all hands on deck rocketship, I’m talking 0-$100mm kind of rocketship.
Dealing with regulation, inventory, paid media, subscription, retention, and now a major retail expansion program, all condensed into a 2.5-year period. Was absolutely incredible and continues to be growing with a more sustained approach now.
I would consider myself S-tier in growth and marketing and incredibly comfortable with difficult decisions and being wrong isn’t something I’m afraid of. From people management to program management. I’m just down for it all, I thrive in it, I enjoy it, and look forward to the stress, but I realize running an agency doesn't prepare you to run a brand.
Orange County is actually a pretty decent hot bed for DTC talent but most of this is concentrated into an area I left 7 years ago, Common Thread Collective, So after last year when I got a random text from Tay asking if I wanted to sub in for a Hyrox event that I never did before in Vegas on a 3 week notice. I didn’t even check my calendar, I just said yes and went for it.
We did OK, but he carried me the entire time lol. We’ve been training, talking and preparing ever since for the Anaheim Hyrox coming in the next 90 days.
Of course, I was talking to @TaylorHoliday about BREZ, marketing, and growth. I was able to see under the hood of some of the programs, reports, brands, and processes he's been able to deploy since I used to be there. As someone who gets to talk to 15 to 20 different brands and agencies every week, it's pretty eye-opening to see the type of content, team, tech, and partners they have access to.
So I floated the idea of potentially joining in to see if there is room for another brand builder, operator, and partner.
To my pleasant surprise, Taylor said there was.
Here's to day one of V2 of joining the team at Common Threat Collective to continue building the future of direct-to-consumer brands with retention, sound fundamentals, and tech to enable that growth.
I truly believe this is the future, and I'm excited to build with the incredible team here in the OC and abroad.

"If you handed me the budget for a $10M brand, I wouldn’t immediately scale or cut any channel."
@RSteveData, Director of Data @CommnThreadCo, would test incrementality first.
Depending on the brand, the answer could be:
- Meta
- AppLovin
- YouTube
- Google
- Pinterest
- TikTok Shop
One brand didn’t believe Meta was delivering 250% incrementality. When they tested it again by pulling back spend, revenue tanked.
“I don’t necessarily want to push the throttle or pull the throttle without knowing what that’s actually going to do.”
