Practices are already under severe financial strain. An increase to Employer National Insurance contributions is an additional cost that many simply cannot afford. We need all GP Partners to use our tool & write to your MP to demand a Government U-turn 👇 activism.bma.org.uk/page/160…

Confirmed Increase in Employer NICs by 1.2%, and reduced secondary threshold to £5000 a year. Alongside the new rate of NLW, another increase in the cost of operating for many charities. Some additional support is needed to help them remain sustainable. #AutumnBudget

Someone else said: “Art Nouveau is when it looks made by elves. Art Deco is when it looks made by dwarves.” And after looking into it, I think they’re a genius and 100% correct.

Last year I was commissioned by the UK ministry of housing to write a report on the demand side-drivers of the housing affordability crisis. After some election-related delays, here it is. (1/13) ucl.ac.uk/bartlett/public-pu…

Also some very timely research from @SocialEnt_UK out today showing how social enterprises pay better, offer training, involve employees in organisational decision-making, and retain staff. Worth a look ⬇️

Interesting to see civil society in France coming together 9 days after the election to put pressure on politicians to appoint new Ministers.
9 days after French elections, with Left coalition that finished first on verge of implosion over its inability so far to agree on a Prime Minister, civil society tries to ramp up pressure on them e.g. oped in Le Monde, from union leaders to artists: lemonde.fr/idees/article/202…

Good to see civil society groups meeting Ministers in Malaysia today.
Malaysia is one of the few countries in the world which do not have any regulation on political financing. Civil society groups led by @IDEASMalaysia met with YB @WongChen_MY, chairman of the APPG on Political Financing and minister @fahmi_fadzil today to continue pressing on the issue. BERSIH also took the opportunity to pass our latest research report on reforming the MACC to both.

Encouraging to see the Ministry of Finance meeting representatives from civil society. If only UK had this, like Namibia.
Scenes from the civil society consultation on the national budget with Minister of Finance @Iipumbushiimi & National Planning Commission DG @MbuiKandjoze. CSOs wishing to make a submission for the 2025-26 budget can send to [email protected] before 29 July. #openbudgets

A lil reminder that it’s day 10 with no civil society or charity minister and yet the labour government said it wanted to work with the sector - how will it do that with no dedicated minister?

Also, why are no civil society reps talking about this? Too polite? More patient than some of us?! Perhaps there is some exciting plan afoot which is taking time but on the surface it's extremely depressing and a little insulting.
