Today marks 60 years since the Aberfan Disaster, one of the darkest days in our history.
The tragedy, which cut short so many lives, remains etched in the memory of our nation. We remember the 144 who died and pay tribute to a community of such strength and resilience.
“Care workers must never again be treated as an afterthought during a national emergency. This current Government must learn from the mistakes of the pandemic, implement the Inquiry’s recommendations in full and deliver the reforms needed to ensure history does not repeat itself.”

🎥 What could Heathrow expansion mean for British steelmaking? Last week, @HeathrowAirport and 7 Steel UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Cardiff, reaffirming our commitment to procuring domestically and providing greater confidence to invest in UK steelmaking.
With expansion potentially requiring up to 400,000 tonnes of #steel, the opportunity could support reindustrialisation and skilled jobs in steelmaking communities across the country – including South Wales, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and the North East.
