Halloween started as All Hallows Eve,
The night before All Saints Day, which is followed by All Souls Day. A Christian celebration replacing summer's end .. Pumpkins replaced turnips because they were plentiful and easier to carve.
All Souling involved families , mainly the poor seeking food, cakes and coin.
A kids traditional involvement didn't even start until the 1930s, whereas Halloween has been around since the 8th century.

Christian here! This is such a shit take from somebody who obviously has no idea of how deeply tied Halloween is to Christian history. It originated as the evening vigil of a major church feast and while it intersects with ancient seasonal practices, its name, timing, and many core customs evolved directly from Christian traditions.
Celebrate any way that you want. Do not let others tell you how to live your life. Follow the teachings of Christ...not that of people who demand your absolute fealty to their own beliefs!
