A couple reminders for this year’s Halloween: 1. Check the local sex offender registry. Avoid those houses and neighborhoods. 2. Teach your kids manners. Tell them to say “Thank you” and to only take 1 or 2 pieces of candy unless the homeowner says otherwise. 3. If you see a child with a blue pumpkin basket, it usually means they’re on the autism spectrum or have other types of special needs. Be patient and kind with them. They may be nonverbal or have poor motor skills. 4. If you see teenagers trick or treating, don’t turn them away. Just let them enjoy their childhood and give them the candy. Be happy they still want to do that rather than go to a party with alcohol and God knows what else. Halloween is for EVERYONE, not just kids. #Halloween

EXCUSE ME?! I did NOT want a C-Section at all! I wanted a “hippie birth:” An unmedicated water birth in a hot tub with dim lights, soft music and as less people in the room as possible. As soon as Connor came out, I’d hold him. Instead, I got the complete opposite: Bright lights, lots of drugs, a whole town’s worth of people in the room looking at my business, AND SURGERY!!! I saw my son for LESS THAN 10 SECONDS before he was taken to the NICU to be monitored. I didn’t see or hold him till the next morning. Say what you want, but I’d NEVER ask to be cut open and to be ROBBED of the first moments of motherhood that I will NEVER have. Oh and I had to adjust to motherhood WHILE recovering from surgery WITHOUT painkillers. I REFUSED to take them. On top of that, I had SEVERE postpartum depression to the point where I was talking to TWO therapists AND a psychiatrist because I had NO support at home. I was on the pill for YEARS!! Started at 19, because I was told it’ll “help” with certain things. It did, but it caused 2 of my 3 miscarriages, and when I got off it, I learned I have PCOS and hypothyroidism. I was practically forced to get back on it. I got off it again, got pregnant with Connor, and was put on it again about 2 months postpartum. I’ve decided I’ve had enough, and I got off it PERMANENTLY this past January.
