Now that Crowley won, let's revisit this Aug. 6 post because this is what happened last night. Polling had Hong up by ~20; her support was clearly much softer than polls saw. The Dem turnout machine is formidable and got people to show up for Crowley. Hong should have avoided the national media appearances because those revealed her weaknesses and reinforced fears that she was weak - so much so that she only turned in 44% in Dane County to Crowley's 37% and she lost Milwaukee County. State Navigate: 🔵 Hong +22 Public Policy Polling: 📷 Hong +18 Marquette University: 📷 Hong +29 Public Policy Polling: 📷 Hong +20
Is this the path to a Hong collapse on Aug. 11? 🔵Her backtracking on numerous past statements (particularly softening on police) may cost her the image of a truth-telling, unafraid progressive reformer and with it, part of her progressive base 🔵Wide publicity for some of her more wackadoo stuff, like wanting to abolish Thanksgiving, employing a porn star, and championing a "hooker's bill of rights" may turn off less extreme elements of her progressive base 🔵Those weird notes might also make her look clownish to some progressives, who strongly believe that neither party is being serious enough about serious problems and want to focus on economic issues 🔵TV appearances where the mask is off and her unpreparedness for the limelight do not help her with anyone and may further erode progressive faith that she is what she had been presenting 🔵Many early votes are locked in, but there is still a Dem turnout machine that will try to propel voters to the polls for Crowley. The fog of war prevents us from knowing exactly what's going on. ...We will see how durable her support is on August 11.

This article cites some actual quacks running in deep blue districts, but those are buried. Instead, the article leads with nothingburger nontroversies in tight districts. The article is politically motivated, not an actual attempt at journalism. jsonline.com/story/news/poli…

So I hear: media thought both candidates were going to be available in spin room after debate. Crowley did not show up. Ben Wikler was his surrogate (as he was in 2022). @TomTiffanyWI showed up to answer questions and clarify positions.

To hell with objectivity. Tom fucking nailed it. He will make one hell of a governor.
What you’re seeing in the Wisconsin Governors debate is the difference between someone that’s thought long and hard about many of these policy positions vs someone that got prepped last week by a group of consultants. Tom Tiffany is in command of the issues.

In attempting to come across as moderate, and it was rough to watch, Crowley did nothing to motivate progressives or persuade inds. Tiffany didn't turn away his base and came across as the kind of level-headed, genuine person Wisconsin voters prefer as governor. Tiffany dominates tonight.
I'll try to be objective. This debate is not going well for David Crowley. He's stammering, dodging questions, raising his voice, and missing the mark on his arguments. @TomTiffanyWI is showing stability, dignity, and significant expertise on policy issues. As an example, any Democrat should ace the abortion question. David biffed it hard.

Dear Democrats: David Crowley lobbied hard to give billionaires $600 million of taxpayer money because they wanted new toys at their baseball stadium. Do you agree with welfare for the wealthy?

I stand by what I said. The latest…
What Wolfe and McDonell meant to say is that many Trump hating liberals in Madison have been led to believe that their ballot might not count if they vote by mail because the USPS will seize their ballots or something. Republicans shouldn't get too excited about the numbers out of Madison and Milwaukee. pro.stateaffairs.com/wi/pm-u…

The truth is somewhere in the middle. There ISSS a lack of enthusiasm but I don’t believe it explains all of the differences in early voting.

@yount1130 Living in Madison I have many liberal friends. This is what they all say. Worth noting from deep behind the lines.

The reaction by lefties to this ad tells me they are dour pricks who love being dour pricks and hate positivity. Let’s make Wisconsin believe again by electing @TomTiffanyWI !!
This ad is the type run by someone who is winning.

I’m cautiously optimistic about the race, but that means Tom might win or lose by a few thousand votes. Everyone should do this 👇 👇👇
Just recruited 4 more votes for Tiffany just by talking to people who don’t know how serious this midterms are! unfortunately

NEW AD: Wisconsin is everything to me. It's where I grew up, built a small business with my wife, and raised our three daughters. Our state faces challenges, but I know we can overcome them because I believe in you. Early in-person voting starts today. I hope to earn your vote.

Here's a retort when lefties propose abolishing the U.S. Senate or connecting it with population. WI is likely to lose a Congressional seat after 2030 redistricting because of relative population loss, so we will have less political power in the House. But we will not lose any power in the U.S. Senate because it's designed to give every state in the Union equal say - to balance the House. It's brilliant. Progressives want to strip WI of even more political sway in the nation's capital as our share of population drops and our power in the House follows.

In a soundbite that's used heavily in advertising against him, a candidate for governor takes a deeply unpopular position on a hot-button issue. Weeks later, he's forced to publicly flip-flop because polling was disastrous. That was Tim Michels in 2022 on the issue of abortion. Now, it's David Crowley on the issue of data centers. @DanODonnellShow @yount1130 @VickiMcKenna @MarkBellingShow @JasonGoch @wisconsin_now @TomTiffanyWI
This is the typical Corporate Dem politician saying whatever consultants tell him to say to get elected. This issue must really be showing up in polls.

Crowley claimed that @TomTiffanyWI voted for tablets for prisoners because he voted for budgets that had Corrections funding in them. None of the budgets had anything about tablets in them. Such a ridiculous stretch that even @PolitiFact had no choice but declare it false.

A great choice for @realDonaldTrump would be Anna Kelly. Few are faster on their feet, quick with the facts, hard working and could go toe-to-toe with any of the drive by journalists in the WH press corps.
I was criticized for this post. Now...
