“The normal gasoline has a carbon footprint with an emissions rating of about 100. And ethanol is already at a rating of 50,” said Mitchell Hora, Founder and CEO of @Continuum_Ag, at the @IowaStateFair. He also pointed to ethanol byproducts used to feed hogs: “When we’re producing biofuel, we are producing all these other products, as well. Being able to feed people, being able to keep food prices low, I think that’s important to point out.”

45Z is a renewable fuels tax credit designed to promote lower carbon fuels. 🌱 ⛽
But its impact reaches far beyond the fuel tank.
45Z connects regenerative agriculture practices to ethanol production. The 45Z low carbon farming practices (like cover crops, reduced-till and improved nutrient management) are the same farming techniques used to improve Iowa’s water quality. 💧
As IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw puts it, “Section 45Z will be the biggest clean-water program in the history of the United States government.”
One renewable fuels tax credit. Cleaner fuels and cleaner water.

Great to see CHS moving their #45Z strategy forward. Continuum is not currently handling their CI scoring and MRV, but if you sell to these locations, this is a good deal! If you want to know your CI Score, you can calculate it free at topsoil.ag 🇺🇸🌽
