Day 1, finally.
Route 66, mile zero-ish. Lou Mitchell’s at dawn, yellow umbrellas out, “world’s finest coffee” already lit. Official start is Jackson and Michigan. Unofficial start is right here, with eggs and a promise to keep going west. Follow for the rest of the road.

The first Cybercab crash 😔 the haters were right
Tesla has reported the first Cybercab crash to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
According to the report, a Cybercab was traveling at approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) when it drove into a large, water-filled pothole, causing damage to the vehicle.
Personally, I don't think this incident should be viewed in the same way as a typical traffic accident.
At the time, a safety monitor was inside the vehicle, and there were no passengers.
While the vehicle sustained damage and the incident was officially reported as a crash, I believe it makes more sense to view this as an edge case encountered during autonomous driving development and testing.
After all, identifying and learning from these unusual scenarios is an essential part of improving autonomous driving technology and making it safer and more reliable.
