Minneapolis, the tipping point was ya’ll marching on that sub zero day to fight Trump, ICE, and the whole administration. It put the entire country on notice. This blue wave started here!!!!!

I couldn’t have done this without my dream team: Chelsea, Arshia and Yusra! Thank you to Councilmember Robin Wonsley, future school board member Christin Crabtree, DJ Ones, Killed by Kiwis, and Theatre in the Round. And a special shoutout to Brayshaun and Nino for the setup!

Minneapolis, because of your support-our first “I’m The Host Now” event was a success! It was an honor to sit beside our Congresswoman @IlhanMN and our ally @hasanthehun to discuss what makes our community so unique.

The ol’ islamophoic trope of Muslims and hostages. You could at least put a little more thought into your Islamophobia @rochelleolson where was your outrage when the DNC used him to engage young voters at the 2024 convention?

This Piker event had the potential to be a complete non-issue. One fringe-failed statewide candidate said something. Cool. Who cares? Don’t like Hasan? Cool! Don’t attend! But helping Republicans blow up this nothing-burger feels immature from a party as experienced as the DFL.

Here in Minneapolis, the phrase “If we don’t get no justice, then they don’t get no peace” is not just a chant. We literally mean it.
When I was in Minneapolis, I heard a number of crazy stories. But near the top of the list: A couple of off duty ICE and CBP officers were going to dinner in Minneapolis. They were doxed and their location revealed, and the restaurant was then mobbed. The officers were locked in the restaurant, and local police refused to respond to their pleas for help (as they've been directed by local authorities). Eventually, their fellow federal agents came to their aid. This is just a taste of what's happening in Minneapolis because state and local officials refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement. They have created the chaos so they can have moments like yesterday, where someone tragically dies and politicians get to grandstand about the evils of enforcing the border. The solution is staring everyone in the face. I hope authorities in Minneapolis stop this madness.

I do draw a line when a white man inserts himself into discussions regarding working class BIPOC. As for northside less people voted than last election. DSA continuously shows up for Indigenous residents. I’ll take that allyship over whatever the fuck you think you’re doing.
A theme I’ve noticed from the DSA in Minneapolis is that their membership is mostly white, with many being twenty-somethings from well-off families. Their mission to “build a multiracial working-class movement” is difficult to achieve when their lived experiences don’t align.

In the last 72 hours, Dick Cheney died, Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor, and Nancy Pelosi’s career ended.

Jacob Frey has his 3rd term but he will never have the hearts of Minneapolitians. He will never be beloved. He'll never be called The People's Mayor. He'll always be the guy we got stuck with because of corporate interests.

I do believe 2025 is one of the more hateful Minneapolis elections I’ve seen. The level of xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racism the incumbent campaign was able to capitalize on is something Democrats across the state should sit with. It’s indistinguishably right wing.

I'll still say it, Jacob Frey's campaign staffers acted like incredible, demeaning douchebags. I'd seen no other candidate's staff treat people the same way. It speaks volumes about a candidate who'd employ people like them. Time to bring kindness back to campaigning.

Thank you, Minneapolis! While this wasn’t the outcome we wanted, I am incredibly grateful to every single person who supported our grassroots campaign. I’ll keep fighting alongside you to build the city we deserve. Onward.
