Pretty pumped to top the board despite only enough time for 54 events this season. Hopefully the first of many.

Based on what I'm reading on here, the United States should have surrendered in the fall of 1776. There was no victory in sight, the British Army seemed unstoppable. Young men were needlessly dying in a war the US could never win.

Zelenskyy: "I will continue to bomb Russian Data Centers." Republicans: "Zelenskyy is attempting to interfere in the US midterms." Me: What an odd thing to say.

October 7th was an evil act because it primarily targeted civilians, and it was also massive fuck up for the cause of Palestinians even if you ignore the ethical aspect.

Modern wave elections are mostly just anti-incumbent party almost every time. In 2006/08 it was anger at Bush, and in 2010/14 it was anger at Obama
Charlie Cook: While many have long predicted that Democrats will enjoy a “blue wave” election, I think of it more as a “red undertow,” which will pull many Republicans under and significantly trim the margins for many others. A blue wave implies an endorsement or affirmation of Democrats and their policies. But Democrats' brand is still in tatters from 2021-2025, particularly 2021 and 2022, when they not only had President Biden in the White House but also majorities in the Senate and House. Fortunately for Democrats, this election will in most cases not be about them. It will, of course, be mostly about the occupant of the White House. Over the last 90 days, President Trump’s political standing has transitioned from very unpopular to toxic and now to radioactive. cookpolitical.com/analysis/n…

I'm actually so mad. This race was beyond winnable for Bodnar. We are throwing away a senate seat because of one person's ego.

When I say being "anti-Zionist" doesn't necessarily make you pro-Palestine or even pro-Arab, this is what I mean. Emma is backing a movement that most of Lebanon wants to see disarmed, that spent decades murdering their Lebanese opponents (including Communists), supported 30 years of Syrian occupation, and helped Assad murder hundreds of thousands of his own people just so he could hold on to power. She's backing them because of their position on the only thing she cares about in the region which is - however fruitlessly - fighting with Israel. She and the "movement" she represents would happily see Lebanon remain an impoverished Iranian launchpad, regardless of the consequences, because a third of the country burning to the ground is worth it Israel gets slightly burnt in the process.
Hezbollah is currently the only viable alternative to a collaborationist, corrupt Lebanese state that is unable to present a military challenge to Israel, by design. "Please bomb us slightly less" is all they can muster as Israel ethnically cleanses the south. This is the game.

I wonder if it's possible that both Israelis and Palestinians have legitimate grievances, that both sides have done some terrible things, and that the reason that the conflict has dragged on for so long is that the issues involved are very complicated rather than very simple

We actually had a genuine path to victory here. It's beyond disappointing that Bankhead's ego is going to cost us the opportunity to win a Senate seat in Montana.

If AI accelerates a cure for cancer, up to 1 million jobs across oncology, radiology, pathology, pharmaceuticals, biotech R&D, hospital systems, and insurance would become obsolete. Do we really want that?

If you don’t like data centers, may I suggest not using them????
i think it has a lot to do with technology getting worse, costing more, building a surveillance state, destroying the environment, all owned by a class of wealthy elite that coalesced behind the fascist regime that made clear they’d sacrifice humanity for their own power growth

it’s me. i’m that guy. building more housing does depress prices (because the housing market uses prices to allocate a scarce good) building more lanes doesn’t relieve congestion (because highways are free and rely on traffic to allocate scarce roadspace)
Guy who thinks building more houses will depress prices but that adding more lanes to the highway won’t relieve congestion.
