.@MizzouFootball @CoachDrinkwitz explains DJ Jones heart transplant for me in great detail, including that heart failure was official diagnosis and that Jones had “like 21 days” to live. More here: Eli Drinkwitz: “DJ is heavily sedated right now, recovering from surgery. So far so good as far as body accepting the new heart.  “Heart failure was the diagnoses.  “Wednesday we got a call, and he was being placed on an ecmo machine, which basically is a machine that acts as your heart. Once you go on that, time starts really becoming of the essence. Like 21 days (to live). “So we knew we needed a tragedy to save a life….. it was a sad for all of us.   He FaceTimed me and our staff on Tuesday night and told us they found him a heart — it was unbelievable joy.  “Our team and staff was so excited, but then everything had to go right from harvest to recovery to inspection.  “They started surgery Wednesday at 10pm and by 7:30 the next morning, he had gone through a transplant. It’s been incredible.  “Still a long way to go—but appreciate the support.”
