Incredible and terrifying at the same time but this feels like just the beginning.
BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg.
Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible.
This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.
Accurate
Elon is not really a person.
He is the human embodiment of network effects.
When you have been operating at the level and breadth that he has been you aren’t really dealing with an individual.
You are dealing with a deep bench of talent and capital with a comms guy who is addicted to Twitter at its head.
The same warnings about underestimating Trump the person vs Trumps cabinet apply to Musk but x100 and with far less irrationality injected and with much higher caliber of people.
Does he over-promise, over-hype, over-hyperbolize? Of course.
But I would guess the median IQ and depth of expertise of the bench around Musk is higher than that of any nation state.
I thought this was obvious to most people.
About to see legacy telecoms go under
Replying to @aaronburnett
We definitely need to explain this in detail. Veterans of the cellular industry look at the chess board of existing pieces and don’t see a solution.
They don’t understand that SpaceX is developing entirely new pieces that fundamentally alter the strategic landscape.
This guy is comparing Tesla to Hyundai and Audi… lmfao

You don’t have even the tiniest bit of skepticism? Realism? 😅 I love tech and the future is going to be fun, but imagine if Hyundai or Audi or any other company pulled this stunt
If you’re working with Ai daily to create something… it’s not that it’s current form is revolutionary (although it is), it’s the ‘rate of change’ and improvement every few weeks that’s scary.
I work in the AI industry. I burn about 1.5 billion tokens a week. Between personal and business I have 8 AI subscriptions. And I still think I am falling behind the accelerating rate of change. The last three months alone have been a quantum jump in capabilities. Nobody outside the industry understands how insane this is going to be. Like a whole other industrial revolution, but compressed into 10 years. Nobody is ready for the societal implications. It's going to be a 10.0 earthquake plus an F5 hurricane all at once, globally.
Yep.
Your money is going away
I had this realization 8 months ago sitting with a billionaire and it is the reason none of us have slept since
Everyone on earth is about to have a supercomputer in his pocket for $20 a month
A lawyer, an accountant, a marketer, a coder, a doctor, a researcher that does the entire job better than the guy you were paying
So every business that runs on knowing something is DEAD
Consulting, agencies, courses, coaching, law, copy, design, anything where you got paid because you knew what someone else didnt
That knowledge is free now
Whatever you charge for it today is the last price it will ever have
2 years ago AI wrote emails
Today it does the whole job start to finish
Run that forward 2 more years and tell me what you're still selling
I dont know how long we have and neither does the guy who just quit Anthropic, thats WHY hes scared
Only 3 things make money on the other side of this
-Credibility, a stranger still needs a face to trust
-The machines themselves, the systems that run a business while you sleep
-Anything human facing
(and even that goes eventually)
Which is why everyone I know with real money is working like a fucking maniac right now
