I'm seeing a lot of discourse about who WoW Forever is being made for and while I cannot speak for anyone else on the team I can speak for myself. I am making WoW forever for the classic gamer and for the millions of people who have had their accounts lapse over the years because they were not satisfied with changes that were made to the game. Whether those changes were to the art style, the story, social aspects, game design, or changes to their favorite class.
I did not spend the last year of my life relearning and mastering how to do things like we did it 20+ years ago for retail players. I could have taken it easy and just kept doing things like I had done for the past 8 years on retail...because I was much more familiar with it and it actually takes a lot less time to do (height maps on textures do a ton of heavy lifting). Because the reality is that the majority of retail players wouldn't care and would probably actually prefer it. But I felt I had a duty to uphold an artistic vision and integrity that millions of people expect from us. But not just for our players, but for my co-workers past and present who worked on it over 20 years ago. If I could not create something that resembled their work then I failed not only them...but myself.
Please do not take this as me throwing any shade at retail players or the retail team because I am one myself...but I wanted to make Forever as authentic of a Vanilla experience as possible. This involves making decisions wildly different than retail. It means holding the line against changes that create a domino affect down the road. It means keeping friction and inconveniences in the game. It means finding friends and forming groups with strangers and being social!! Because WoWs social aspects have always been the pillar of the game and over the years it has slowly been chiseled away at with changes that allow you play alone.
Since the day I started working on the Riverglades I have lived by three sayings.
"Convenience is the death of the journey."
"If you're making a game for everyone then you're making it for no one."
"Every change we make incurs a debt to the authenticity of the game and sooner or later that debt will be paid."
These are my core beliefs and I had a specific group of people I was targeting with my work. These beliefs cannot be shaken and I will try to hold the line against anything that goes against them and will continue to pester the team about things that feel out of place.
That being said, my hope is that Forever will pull in as many people as possible, whether you are a retail gamer, a classic gamer, someone who hasn't played in years, or even a new player. I hope you can all remember what made this game so special in the first place and that starts with understanding why we are so passionate about keeping it authentic.
alright, the bag drop
first, the team’s been contacting people who had issues with checkout and we’ve got many folks squared away. thanks to everyone who reached out to us.
it sucks to stay up until 5am for a drop, or fumble through an app on your phone, and then run into a tech problem
a key frustration here is token-gating method.
a bit of background - when we do token-gated drops, there’s two options:
1. tokenproof
2. glyph
you’ve seen us alternate between the two recently
tokenproof is a great app, but it comes with a lot more machinery than we need, which means it’s easier for stuff to break
glyph is our native system, and it’s optimized for our ecosystem. we prefer this and have been moving towards it.
for instance - apefest ticketing this year ran on glyph for token-gating and went smoothly
we’re in the middle of getting the glyph shopify app approved, which would allow anyone to do token-gated checkout just by signing in with their glyph wallet. no phones and qr codes, no separate apps, just simple checkout.
when it gets approved, ANY community can use glyph for shopify checkout
but today we used tokenproof and it’ll probably be the last time we do that

Today marks the 4 year anniversary of Azuki!
From launching an anime inspired PFP collection in a small apartment in LA, to growing that seedling into something much bigger, it’s been an incredible journey. This year, I’m excited for the Azuki IP to continue expanding through story, games, and experiences.
What matters most now is leaning into the foundation we’ve built and compounding our momentum: shipping products people love and steadily growing the reach of the Azuki world that we’ve brought to life alongside the community.
Seeing Azuki experienced by new audiences even just yesterday at the TCG Invitational was incredibly meaningful to me.
Four years in. Still building. Still evolving. Still here.
Proud of how far we’ve come and grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey. IKZ! ⛩️

Azuki is playing the long game, and yeah there are ups and downs, but the plan actually makes sense imo.
A TCG to seed the world, a manga to deepen the lore, and an anime to take it mainstream.
Combine that with their IP and Anime.com and it’s one of the few setups in the space that can actually break out of this bubble in a big way.
And a key point people seem to ignore, holders are and have been included every step of the way. IP featured in the TCG, the anthology, and I see that becoming more and more impactful as things continue to scale.
Sentiment is in a downtrend rn, as it is with a lot of the NFT space, but I genuinely feel like the team and holders should be proud for everything accomplished so far, and excited about the potential for the future.

If you spend any amount of time on CT, you would think everyone working a 9-5 is a miserable slave to “the man.”
Meanwhile while the people telling you everyone with a full time job is miserable are chronically online, wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth to every 2% drop in the market, replying 500 times a day to people they don’t know just for the chance of being noticed by the guy who has 100k followers (75k of which are bots or dead accounts) and is actively trying to scam them, or yelling into the void that their airdrop they “worked hard for” was not what it should have been….
All of this is taking place while MANY of “9-5 slaves” they denounce are enjoying life and don’t care about your streamer coins going to zero.
