Devlog 22 Oct: Focused Training sneak peek, signing windows app and store release
First phase of improved training module is going well and I am hoping to push a release in a week or so. The first phase is. Focused Training, which means that you will be able to train players specifically on attributes that you see on their profile instead of just generic Batting and Bowling training. You would also be able to track a player's training and impact/improvement via dedicated screen/tab in Player Profile. More info on this on release. The next phases would take training deeper with training for specific attributes like format specific training, opening bowling/batting/fielding/keeping, etc.
A couple of more important announcements.
Windows game launch issues
A couple of users had complained about app not launching because of Windows App Security marking it as potentially harmful. The reason behind this is code signing. For apple, there is hardly any workaround and luckily I already had an approved account so the MacOS version already had a signed app on release. For windows, usually Microsoft learns about the app automatically - that's why most users were able to play without issues. But since some complained and I want Cricket Team Manager to be a global respectful brand, I have applied to Microsoft as well for signing certificate. That is under review and the next update (1.0.3 with training phase 1) should solve this Windows issue for everyone for good.
Windows Store Release
Another thing under process is a Windows store release of the game. To make sure the game reaches a wider audience, especially the Cricket nerds who are otherwise not much of gamers, I have decided to also release the game via the Microsoft Windows store. The process didn't seem complex and Cricket Team Manager's parent company (LSL Ventures) is under review with Windows store to become an approved publisher. Hopefully, that will also happen with next update.
Thanks again for supporting the game. 🙏
Cheers!

v1.0.2 is out now. Update the game via steam next time before you launch. All current saves will keep working without issues.
Major Features:
• Rain affected ODI/T20 matches which are handled by the DLS rule
Official ICC DLS formulas/rules are used. Chance of rain is derived by actual weather conditions/history of the ground. So, you will see rain more frequently in Sri Lanka but might not see much in UAE.
• Injury Replacements - one of the most requested feature by fans is finally here. Replace injured players from your squad. You should see a "Replace" button on the bottom right Availability widget on the hub.
• Custom player photos via the db editor. All players have a unique id. So you can bulk add photos too and share your folder with the community. Even saved games will pick these up.
• Test matches have proper ground timings, session timings and rain/bad weather are now shown as interruptions - making it more immersive and realistic.
• More in-match event popups. And now, you can also turn off the ones you don't want via dedicated setting button on the match screen.
You will still see events on the bottom left ticker panel - making the experience broadcast like
• You can now view how the pitch/conditions have changed during the course of a test match using the dedicated "Day by day" button on the match screen.
• Switch to Windowed mode using toggle buttons on both Windows and MacOS any time. Check Main menu -> Settings
Bugs Fixed:
• Player profile quick view - age value wasn't progressing with career
• T20 group matches didn't have Super Over
• Toss - people were able to go back and re-do the toss. The outcome won't change now. No cheating guys!
Database Updates:
• Updates various retirements and skill values as per feedback
• Added some players. Most notable was - Simon Harmer
• Updated teams' default lineups to reflect current cricket.
Really thankful for the wonderful feedback and reviews people keep coming up with. The game is looking really stable, bug-free and full of features now. 🙏

Devlog 16 Oct: Rain interruptions and DLS
DLS and rain interruptions in one day and T20 matches was supposed to be part of the release version itself. But the pile of work at the end meant I had to leave it for a later update. That update is coming tomorrow, along with proper test match clocks, injury replacements and custom player pictures.
The DLS method used in the game is as per ICC rules and the chances of rain are aligned with actual ground weather conditions in real life.
Post that, I believe the game will come in a proper state and I will let you guys have a good play for a couple of weeks while I work on the revamped training system. It's been lovely to see all positive reviews on steam. I hope it keeps going.
Cheers!

Devlog Oct 13: Injury replacements and building a community
Injury replacements were requested by quite a few people and they definitely make the game more realistic and fun. Coming along nicely and will be in the update releasing this weekend. It will probably become an exclusive feature of CTM as I haven't seen it in Cricket Captain, Cricket Coach or the other newer games. Another impactful feature I am working on is the DLS. Need to get it right as it can be tricky.
Really nice to see people posting on the subreddit and it getting busy. Until release, it was just me doing all the posts. I think it won't be long before the community stalwarts take over here and hopefully on the Discord server (which I will set up soon) and i can focus on the coding and feature updates. I always wanted to build a good community around the game and let users drive the features in the game. Slowly and steadily, we are moving in that direction.
Also taking care of a dog tonight - showed up at our doorstep at night, scared and confused. Have set up a small bed for him in the garage for the night. Can't bring him inside because of the toddler and our grumpy cat. Have posted in the neighbourhood groups and hopefully he will be re-united with his family tomorrow morning.
Cheers!

Devlog 10 Oct: A special thanks from the youngest CTM contributor and supporter
“Now that daddy has released the game, I hope he will spend more time with me. I love the game too and have tried to contribute by jumping on the keyboard sometimes. I hope those key presses I did had fixed some of the bugs. Really love your positive response to the game. Thank you for that. ❤️ Please enjoy it otherwise I have just learnt how to scratch 😁. Good night”

Please don’t forget to leave a steam review - that’s the single most impactful thing you can do to support the game. Takes only a minute or two.

Time to play @CricketTMGame I’d say! 🤩
If you haven’t seen it yet, go and take a look!
A user asked on steam about how player development works in the game and I thought it would be helpful for everyone so posting my response here:
“Thanks for asking this and I am glad you asked this because this is what interests me the most as well as a player too. And I have tried to build as much cricketing logic into the game engine as possible. It will keep improving with each update.
Now for players, as you must have noticed, all players have a set of skill values and there is one set each for the 3 formats. Player progression works very similarly to real life. You have training slots available and you can train the players to improve their skills. Now, each player has their own ceiling. For example, Player A might be currently at 75 with a ceiling of 80. So you can train him to 80 and he reaches his peak. Training beyond that won’t have much effect. Similarly, player B might have a ceiling of 85.
Now, what happens if you don’t train a player at all? The game engine still improves and declines players as the career progresses. So, if you don’t train a player, they still reach a peak age, plateau and then start declining until retirement age. Training is basically a mechanism to make players reach their peak ahead of time so that you can utilise them as per your needs.
Every player has a built in peak age and retirement age.
This, along with player current form, determines how they perform in a live match. So eventually, the game becomes a sum of how you approached all these things.
To keep a real life like balance, you can’t just train everyone to 100 and make a Bradman out of everyone.
Now, as career progresses and players retire, young regens start appearing which are younger in age and play domestic cricket in background. Each country produces their own set of regens every year based on the capacities/quality of that country as of today. So you won’t suddenly start seeing Australia like players in Ireland automatically in 10 years. But if you manage an Ireland career and properly train players and make Ireland climb up in ranking and win trophies, the regen quality will also start improving.”
