some people are really quick to throw around some very serious accusations and label him racist and xenophobic based on posts that deliberately take his comments out of context and twist them into something he never said. the question was how he avoids getting sick this late in the season, especially with two drivers currently ill (now three). he explained that he's always been a picky eater and has never really been one to try lots of different foods, preferring to stick to what he knows. he also spoke about taking precautions when travelling, including being careful with water after having been ill in mexico and brazil before because of the water. using bottled water to brush his teeth is just one of those precautions he's chosen to take to avoid going through that again. the "funky foods" comment was never about mexico, brazil or any specific country. he was talking about his own eating habits and NOT taking a dig at either country, unlike what those accounts are trying to make it seem. just earlier this week, he was talking about mexican food as one of his favourite things about the calendar.

"how do you feel about passing over the baton to kimi and what he's managed to achieve this year? did he have it easier, a lot harder than you did?" lando: "i don't really care. he's winning a world championship and he's going to win the world championship. i don't think anyone really cares how you do it, honestly. they shouldn't. he's done an incredible job and i would say he's done it in a pretty incredible way. people are saying he hasn't had any tough competition this year, but that proves exactly the point that he's done such an incredible job. he's got a very, very talented teammate that he's beaten through the whole season. no, i have nothing but respect for kimi and he's a very, very nice guy. we get along very well and i'm more than happy to pass the number one over to him. he deserves it. he's done an incredible job, especially in second year in formula one, to be the youngest world champion, all of these things that he's going to achieve. that's pretty insane. so i'm more than happy. i enjoy seeing other people have that kind of success so it's nice to see. i know i've had a pretty horrible defensive title, but there's not much more i could have done. i feel like i've driven a very, very good season. we just haven't had the car, and that's nothing that's really in my control. so from my side, i feel like i've done my very best, and the races where i could fight against him, i feel like we've had good fights, and it's been a good season from that perspective, but more than happy to pass the number one over to him because he deserves it easily more than anyone"
