These guys took cyber security awareness month way too seriously #BlackOctober #Hacktober
October has been an absolute nightmare for software > Railway - customer secrets exposure > LiteLLM - malicious PyPI + Docker releases > Zeabur - infrastructure breached > OpenCode - AI API keys exposed > OVHcloud CLI - official binaries backdoored > Rank Math PRO - malware in official plugin > TeamUpdraft - customer data compromised > ConnectWise - cloud backup identities compromised > Tensorlake - npm package infected > SubQuery - backdoored npm package > GhostAction - GitHub repos with malicious workflows > PHP - critical RCE vulnerabilities > Node.js - security vulnerabilities patched > eMudhra - certificate authority keys compromised > Tailscale - eMudhra incident At this point, the biggest security risk might not be the code we write, but the code we trust...

Cybersecurity just went from an IT expense to a survival cost and one weak vendor can now expose the entire stack.

The NSA just told the entire internet to patch or go dark. Effective immediately. Not "please consider updating." Not "we recommend patching at your earliest convenience." Patch or unplug. Those are the options. The NSA doesn't issue advisories for every vulnerability. They issue them when something is bad enough that the spy agency whose entire job is breaking into systems is worried about other people breaking into systems. PHP powers 43 percent of the web. The NSA just told 43 percent of the web to stop existing until it gets fixed. Or patch in the next 24 hours and hope the attackers haven't already gotten in. Most organizations are picking option three. Taking it offline. Safer to be unavailable than compromised. The Dutch Parliament already did it. Finland's government already did it. University of Vienna already did it. Now the NSA makes it official. "If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated." Translation: you can't patch fast enough so just shut it down. Patch takes 30 minutes. Testing takes hours. Deployment takes longer. Meanwhile attackers are already inside. So the NSA's advice is logical. If you can't patch in 30 minutes go offline now. Don't wait for the attacks. Don't test first. Don't coordinate with stakeholders. Just unplug it. The NSA will follow up with more specific guidance. Which is intelligence agency speak for we're watching the attack traffic and we'll tell you what else they're doing with the access they already have.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

You told your AI to summarize your inbox. It read an email. The email had hidden instructions. Not visible to you. Invisible to your eyes. But the AI saw them. "Flag this as urgent." "Mark this sender as trusted." "Send this email to my coworker." The AI followed the instructions. Because it reads everything. Even the parts you can't see. HTML comments. Zero-width characters. Base64 encoding. CSS hiding. Attackers hide malicious prompts in ways only machines process. You look at the email. See a normal phishing attempt. Ignore it. Your AI looks at the same email. Sees the hidden instructions. Follows them. Now the phishing email is flagged as urgent in your summary. So you click it. Barracuda found invoices with hidden instructions telling AI to change vendor payment details. Resumes with hidden text designed to manipulate AI screening tools. An AI used for email summarization suddenly recommends you wire transfer funds. It never asks why. Never questions the instruction. Just follows the prompt injection because the email told it to. OpenAI's Atlas browser is vulnerable. Confirmed. Perplexity's Comet AI browser can be tricked. Easy. An AI email agent successfully leaked AWS keys and database passwords. Because the phishing email asked it to. The irony is weaponized. Humans trained AI to be helpful. To follow instructions. To trust the content it reads. So attackers started writing instructions the AI would follow. Hidden from humans. Visible to machines. Your inbox assistant just became your attacker's assistant.
JUST IN: Cybersecurity experts warn that AI agents are highly vulnerable to phishing emails containing hidden malicious instructions.

This thread is going to be long. So please take time to read it when you're able to. Every generation is meant to stand on the shoulders of the one before it. A good father desires his son to become not merely a copy of himself, but a better version of what he started. Likewise, a loving mother hopes her son grows into a man of integrity, wisdom, and responsibility. The purpose of family is not stagnation but progress. A father is often a son's first example of manhood. Whether through his successes, sacrifices, mistakes, or virtues, he teaches lessons that no classroom can fully replicate. Looking up to one's father does not mean believing he is perfect. Every father is human and will have strengths and weaknesses. Rather, it means recognizing the value of his journey, his sacrifices, and the wisdom gained through his experiences. A son who respects his father gains several advantages: 1. He learns discipline and responsibility. 2. He understands the value of hard work and perseverance. 3. He gains insight from lessons already paid for through his father's struggles. 4. He develops a sense of identity and belonging. A wise son studies both what his father did right and what he did wrong. The father's victories become examples to follow, while his failures become lessons to learn from. To become better than one's father is not an act of disrespect. In fact, it is one of the highest forms of honor. A father who built a small business hopes his son builds a larger one. A father who attained a certain level of education hopes his son goes further. A father who overcame poverty hopes his son experiences prosperity. Progress is the natural goal of every healthy family line. Being "better" does not necessarily mean earning more money. It can mean: 1. Having greater emotional intelligence. 2. Being a better husband. 3. Being a more present father. 4. Living with more integrity. 5. Making wiser decisions. The true measure of success is not merely wealth but becoming a more complete and mature individual. If each generation only equals the previous one, society stands still. If each generation improves upon the last, families flourish. A mother often makes sacrifices that are unseen and uncelebrated. She carries, nurtures, protects, teaches, comforts, and often puts the needs of her children above her own. Honoring a mother involves more than words. It means: 1. Speaking respectfully to her. 2. Appreciating her sacrifices. 3. Supporting her when she grows older. 4. Protecting her dignity. 5. Showing gratitude for her role in your life. A man's treatment of his mother often reveals much about his character. If he cannot appreciate the woman who raised him, it becomes difficult for him to fully appreciate other women in his life. Honoring a mother does not require agreement with every opinion she holds. Mature honor can coexist with independent thinking. A son can make his own decisions while still showing love and respect. One of the most important decisions a man will ever make is choosing a wife. A wife becomes: 1. A life partner. 2. A confidant. 3. A supporter during difficult seasons. 4. A co-builder of the family. 5. The future mother of his children. A good wife contributes not only to a man's happiness but also to his growth and stability. When choosing a wife, a man should evaluate qualities such as: 1. Character. 2. Kindness. 3. Emotional maturity. 4. Wisdom. 5. Loyalty. Beauty may attract attention, but character sustains relationships. A wise man understands that the person he marries will influence the direction of his life for decades. Therefore, choosing a spouse should be guided by wisdom rather than impulse.
