Today we are excited to release a video walk-through of NilTransfer, a prototype that highlights some of the capabilities of the Nillion internal testnet. TLDR: Niltransfer is a browser based file transfer application that showcases the store and retrieve functions on the Nillion testnet. NilTransfer includes a browser-based node that connects directly to the testnet, eliminating the need for any additional infrastructure setup. Lets take a look at how it works: ➡️Uploading and Storing Data: The user uploads a file to the client-side web application which instructs the Nillion SDK to store it. The SDK then connects to a cluster of pre-processing nodes, and requests crucial blinding exponent shares for data protection. ➡️Masking the Data: These shares combine in the browser to form a blinding exponent. The uploaded file is masked by this blinding exponent, creating particles. ➡️Storing the Particles: Once the particles are formed, the Nillion SDK sends them to each network node for storage. This data is the securely and secretly stored in the network. ➡️Retrieve Phase: The client-side web application configures and triggers the SDK retrieval sequence. The shared link contains embedded identifiers that inform the secret ID and filename. Loading the web application triggers and retrieve workflow which starts by signalling the network to provide the blinding exponents and particles associated with the given stored secret. ➡️Reconstruction: Upon retrieval of the blinding exponent shares and secret particles in the browser, the SDK reconstructs the blinding exponent needed for data recovery. ➡️Data Recovery: Unmasking the particles using the blinding exponent, the Nillion SDK successfully recovers the file intact. Hey! Nillion a TLDR Nillion is a secure computation network that decentralizes trust for high value data in the same way that blockchains decentralized transactions. We aim to expand web3 to new use cases and verticals; some early builders from our community are building things like tooling for private predictive LLMs and secure storage and compute solutions for healthcare, passwords, trading data, etc. Of course this also includes integrations with DePIN 😉
