Treaty Day (Oct 1) marks the 1752 Peace and Friendship Treaties between the Mi’kmaq and the British Crown. It did not surrender or cede land; it affirmed peace, trade, hunting & fishing to continue unhindered, and is renewed yearly for as long as the rivers flow and the sun and moon endure. It is marked with flag raisings, ceremonies, feasts, and drumming. 🟠🙏🏾
